What was once a negative review is now being replaced with this. Albert Espinoza came back out and we spoke as adults about expectations, misunderstandings, and solutions. We both spoke without anger or resentment and I'm happy with the outcome. I had originally felt guilt over my true, albeit, harsh review but that was removed when I heard his admittance of mistakes and sincerity in wanting to make things right. Albert Espinoza made it right. He came to my house after work hours and sprayed the $40 worth of weed-grass killer I originally paid for. He also fixed my gate and removed a small tree growing besides my house. Again, it was never my intention to get free or additional services only what I was owed, but his insistence and what felt like genuine care about my property has changed my review and how I view this company.

I would now recommend Master Finishes.

We hired Master Finishes for a bedroom remodel completed in May 2021, at a total cost of $25,938. The company looked professional, their portfolio was impressive, and their reviews initially seemed justified. At the time, had I left a review right after completion, it would have looked positive and reflected that polished first impression. Unfortunately, issues have emerged over time, and our experience has turned frustrating and expensive.

Flooring:
We wanted tile to match the rest of our home, but the contractor strongly pushed us toward LVT, insisting tile would “change the whole bid” and be far more expensive. I requested the existing tile be removed before installing LVT, but was told it wasn’t necessary and that any uneven areas would be corrected with a leveling compound. That leveling was never done. Now the LVT is splitting and cracking due to the uneven foundation beneath.

Water Heater:
The water heater was moved to the side of the house and set on a pile of old bricks instead of a proper concrete pad. We were not given a chance to approve this. Later, the unit stopped working. A plumber informed us the water heater had no vent, which is a safety hazard. We had to pay $514 for vent installation, and the manufacturer’s warranty was voided due to improper installation.

Shower & Water Damage:
We experienced water damage on the wall next to the shower. Master Finishes added grout (in a noticeably different shade), replaced drywall, but never returned to paint despite multiple follow-ups.

Roof Vent Leak:
Most recently, during a flash flood, water poured into the remodeled bathroom through the vent. Our roofer confirmed the vent fan had been improperly sealed, resulting in water intrusion. Repair costs were $390.

While the photos and initial results looked great, and the company’s reviews are understandable given first impressions, the long-term issues have been significant, including safety hazards, unfinished work, and additional expenses. I will be including before and after photos, along with updates, to show the progression.

Very professional company and great work. Had a water damaged bathroom due to failed shower floor. Albert came and gave an estimate to insurance company and dealt with their questions. Decided to also remodel the rest of the bathroom and change the flooring into our master bedroom as well. All in all we did a new standing shower that is beautiful and 1000X better than before. Removed our unused tub and changed to a nice vanity with new cabinets, countertops etc... New flooring and paint through and it's like a brand new part of the house. All the different workmen that came to the house were courteous, trustworthy and respectful of our house since we weren't home when they were there most days. Any issues we had were addressed right away and we couldn't be happier.

Master Finishes turned our old workshop into a beautiful open concept casita apartment. They removed walls, placed new floors, lighting, cabinets, appliances, new bathroom and shower. They also configured a washer and dryer install. They figured out how to make the most efficient floor plan possible. Master Finishes are professionals who really know what they’re doing. I’ve attached pictures of their work and what it looked like before.
