Elderly father signed up for free quote and got a two-hour high pressure sales pitch that ended with a rock bottom quoted price of $66K! Two Erie Roofing salesmen from Bossier City, LA, Caleb and Joseph (no last names or business cards provided) drove to our East Texas home to inspect the roof and give us a quote for the addition of metal shingles. During the inspection, they didn't actually get on the roof themselves (they didn't even have ladders). Instead, they just walked around our yard and did a visually inspection. They asked for access to our attic and quickly emerged with a long list of issues that needed immediate action. While both men were very pleasant in their demeanor, they proceeded to give my elderly father a near TWO-HOUR long sales pitch that ended with a rock-bottom quote of $66K thousand dollars. I'm afraid the sales push would have been much more pressured and potentially much-much longer if I hadn't intervened and pushed them to leave as their price point was far beyond anything we could currently afford. Part of the sales pitch included telling my elderly father that if he stopped making payments at any point they would not take the roof back and it would just hurt his credit. And it was also mentioned that if he died while paying off the roof, it would essentially be free. Halfway through the two-hour presentation we finally got a estimated quote between $70K-$35K. After repeatedly telling them "NO" and that the price was already too high, they proceeded to go on FOR ANOTHER HOUR. Once we FINALLY got the actual quote of $66K for our modest 1800 square foot home, we gave Caleb a flat-out NO. As a last stitch effort, Caleb threw out the number $20K, but we weren't interested anymore at that point. As I told them plenty of times during their winded presentation, I understand Caleb and Joseph are simply doing their jobs and trying to make a living. I can respect that, as most would. But if this is indicative of their sales process (and after reading other reviews about this company online it very much is), especially when it comes to pressuring the elderly into purchasing roofs for exorbitant prices, it felt very predatory. The main lesson to learn: "A free quote from Erie Roofing is an invitation to an exhausting and lengthy sales pitch hosted within your own home where they might be hoping you'll sign a hefty contract just to get them to leave."
Erie Homes . Is your New Roofing Company. They came . They conquered. And left all in the same day. Roof has 50 year warranty for my Grand Children to enjoy . As well as all was done in a day . Great Job
Very satisfied with the end result! Had to have the installers redo a couple things, but one of those was my own fault. This will be the last roof I’ll need for as long as I own the house. More expensive than some, but I feel it will be worth it in 30 years when I don’t have to replace it yet.
I couldn’t be more happy with my entire experience dealing with Erie homes! They gave an amazing sales pitch with a great presentation at the beginning that literally would have had anyone wanting to buy a roof from them! They showed up on time did a wonderful job cleaned up the job site when they were finished and we couldn’t be more happy!!! ??
The Erie team was very professional, attentive to our needs, and speedy. We were contacted many times during the roofing process just to be asked, how’s it going? Our daily lives were not interrupted by the team. The on-site foreman stayed involved and he was kind and courteous he also kept us informed of what was being done constantly. The cleanup was swift and thorough. We love our new roof. It keeps the house much cooler, which I’m sure will save on our energy bill. Thank you so much Erie!
