Kaufman replaced my rubber membrane, flat roof in September 2024. I paid $45k out of pocket for the roof and new gutters, then another $2k for a cleanout and gutter guards in October of 2025. (They may have given me a break on the guards since my experience by that point was dismal.) Almost immediately after the replacement, but in only certain conditions, it started leaking in new places, including my front step, creating icy conditions for myself and anyone coming to my front door. When I called after the initial install, they sent out the foreman, who could not explain the problem and made no attempt to fix it. I never heard back from Tom or anyone else that year and into the spring of '25. Pictures show the ice on my front step. To be clear, this is a new problem that I did not have before the replacement.

I see other reviews where the sales person stayed in contact throughout the engagement. Mine disappeared immediately, even when I tried contacting him for assistance with the above. Communication from Kaufman during the project and after was non-existent; I had to repeatedly inquire to get any responses at all. At one point, after four days of stopped work, I was heading out of town on a Friday about 4, and there was a van full of workers parked in my driveway. I had had no notice that they were coming then, so I sent them away to return the following week.

Poor communication, poor workmanship, poor follow up. Is this just for your women clients, Kaufman? 'Cause no one else seems to have had this poor of service. Boo.

11/13/25 Update
Keng was prompt to come out the next business day after posting the above to review the failures with my roof and gutter system. Long story short, despite regular cleanouts since the replacement last year, my gutters are prone to quickly overflowing and need gutter guards (which were removed and discarded last year by Kaufman with the new roof). I am purchasing additional services and materials from Kaufman to fix this problem.

2/19/2026 Update
Keng's team came last November just in time before a winter storm to clean the gutters and install the guards, but they did not bring a hose with them. When Keng had come the week before to inspect, he had one, so I had assumed the workmen would be similarly equipped. No such luck. They used buckets to clean the gutters and downspouts. I believe this was likely insufficient given a hose with nozzle would have yielded more pressure. It was too cold and hazardous to go on my roof after this point, and since the weather has warmed up, my gutters are leaking all over the place, in the front, back, on my front step creating icy conditions.

Here is another video from today showing water dripping from my gutter. This is in the back. This has been a beyond bitterly disappointing experience. I paid a fortune for new problems and am returning my review to a single star.

We were referred to Kaufman from a friend who had a great experience with a roof replacement, and after comparing Kaufman's quote and inspection of our 20+ year-old, hail-damaged roof against several competitors, we decided to move forward with Kaufman. We're glad we did! Our rep Riley was curious and thorough from day one, making sure that we understood all possible surprises (like decking that pre-dated code), how to communicate with our insurance company before putting in our claim, and what repairs would be necessary now vs. what we could consider as future improvements down the road. When it came time for the actual tear off and replacement, Matt and Luis' team was exceptional. They were thoughtful and careful with our various gardens wrapping around our house, protecting each bed and plant with plywood and tarping. Communication throughout the day was easy and prompt. We did need to replace our decking to bring our house up to code, and the added cost was exactly what Riley had discussed in advance - no surprises! We chose a class 3 shingle and included a teardown of our obsolete chimney as part of our single-day tear off and replacement. Kaufman's pricing was competitive and the finished product has been well worth the investment. We're grateful for their expertise and professionalism, and we intend to consider Kaufman for any future siding or gutter work on our home.

I’m a first time home owner and my husband and I bought our house knowing it needed a new roof. Felt daunting! I started asking around if anyone had a good roofer, Kaufman came up a couple times.

Out of all the quotes I revived Kaufman stood out from the beginning. The scheduling team was extremely responsive and had Jake Olmstead out to my house right away! Jake spent a lot of time with me that initial call explaining the entire process and answering all my questions.

Summer got busy and we didn’t move forward on the project right away but Jake was super understanding and came back out to our house to walk us through the quote and review the project with both of us.

Our project was finished this week and looks fantastic!!! The install team was excellent as well as the crew lead. We couldn’t be happier with Kaufman and will definitely recommend them for roofing and exterior work.

Kaufman Roofing replaced our 20+ year-old roof. They were outstanding. We had some roof damage from a hail/wind storm August 15. We called them based on their strong local reviews. They were very responsive. Their sales/estimator rep Riley R. was able to come out early the next morning. Riley assessed our roof and then walked us through the assessment, repair v. replacement issues options, the particulars of the insurance claim process, estimated costs, next steps and probable timelines. He was so professional and helpful, the choice to work with Kaufman was a no-brainer.

Riley remained our primary contact. He successfully navigated us through the insurance claim process. He worked directly with their adjuster, providing all estimates/information they requested. He kept in frequent contact us with updates through the final claim approval.

The project agreement Riley e-mailed us for approval was not just a project summary and cost estimate. It included 3 pages of FAQs that provided very helpful info and specifics on scheduling and what to expect during construction. The office (Angie H.) emailed a list of addresses of 9 area homes that that had the exact three shingle color choices that we considered. An afternoon drive easily got us to a final choice.

We were able to schedule just over two weeks out. On Oct. 13, a crew of eight arrived literally at sunrise (7:30). They immediately began installing tarps and plywood for debris and property protection. It was as if we were watching a well-rehearsed multiple act play: tear-off to bare roof; inspection by project manager (Matt F.) for any structural, issues (replaced three 4x8 deck panels). Brief intermission for lunch. Then, new install: water barriers, underlayment, metal valley flashings, shingles and vents. It concluded with a thorough clean-up. The crew was awesome: professional, highly skilled, precise and meticulous in their work – and, amazingly efficient! Finished and gone by 4:30. Curtain call: a great looking roof, with no sign of them ever having been here.

What began as distressing roof damage, ended with a stress-free roof replacement. Kaufman Roofing has an outstanding customer-oriented team. We recommend them for anyone’s roofing issues.

There over all service from each département was beyond exceptional.
