This is a long one, but I want to share an experience for anyone who is considering using this company. I used the Roof Mentors in 2021 to replace a roof in Hope Mills after a storm had damaged it. The contractor who contacted me actually reached out because he had been working on a roof across the street and noticed mine was damaged (I was deployed at the time). He said he could help me work with my insurance company and get me squared away. It was a great experience. Everything was smooth from beginning to end, which was a huge relief considering I was halfway across the world at the time. The total was about $15k for a 1,400 sq ft house and total roof replacement. Well worth the cost.Fast forward to 2026, we wanted to use them again to inspect the roof of our home in Fayetteville. We wanted to get an age estimate, but also wanted to make sure there was no damage that needed to be addressed. The inspection itself was fine, although Kenny (the inspector) showed up 2 days before the scheduled inspection date. We got a thorough breakdown of what was found and photos to back up the findings. The estimate for replacing the roof was $29,600 for our 2,000 sq ft home. We explained this was out of our budget and that we would have to save a bit more money before moving forward. He said he was able to get the estimate down to a little over $24k and could finance us at 11%... again, while appreciated, this was just out of our budget and we weren't fond of the interest rate. He continued emphasizing that the roof needs to be replaced immediately. We told him we would have to look at our finances and get back to him. A day or so later, we got an email from the company thanking us for choosing them and letting us know they'd be in touch to start our roof replacement. We never signed or agreed to anything. This felt extremely pushy. I emailed Kenny and let him know we were still looking at our options and needed time to figure out how we could make it work financially, and he didn't respond at all. He also sent us an invoice for the inspection that was for $500... $300 more than what we were originally quoted for the inspection. Dana, from the office, rectified this, but it just added to the feeling that things with the company are extremely unorganized.We were fine with using the Roof Mentors, as we previously had a really good experience with them. I'm not sure what has happened with the company in the last several years. This entire interaction made it seem like it's becoming a profit-first company. Not everyone can afford to dump over $20k into a roof immediately, and being pushy about it doesn't help. Very disappointing.
