Reviews commonly mention responsive communication during estimates and scheduling, with some customers noting daily check-ins and clear updates. Many positive comments cite smooth project execution and solid results on roof repairs or replacements. A portion of feedback raises concerns about sales interactions or project timelines on broader construction work. Overall ratings skew positive, but experiences vary by project scope.

We bought a house a few years ago with some issues, and it’s been one problem after another. Recently, our chimney started leaking whenever we had heavy rain. I did my due diligence and called three contractors—not only to compare pricing, but also to gauge experience and get a sense of trust and assurance. Hiring a contractor for a big job can be nerve-wracking, especially in construction where there can be so much ambiguity.

Out of the three, Arthur, the project manager at Universal Builder, was the most professional and made me feel the most at ease. From the beginning, he took the time to walk me through the steps they would take to locate the problem and explain exactly how they would fix it. If something didn’t go as scheduled, he would personally call to reassure me and make sure everything was addressed until I was satisfied—and it was. He was upfront abut the pricing from the beginning, they are not the cheapest but they are not the most expensive either. depending on the job, you don't want to always go with the cheapest contractors and end up with no insurance, and a crappy job. I eneded up getting part of my roof fixed and a brand new Chimney Cap for a very good price.

In the construction world, it can be hard to find true professionalism you can count on. I would absolutely recommend Arthur to anyone.

I googled Brea roofing and evidently Universal roofing came up. When I dialed and I talked to Nick T, he told me that they were connected with Brea. As it turns out he was lying. They are not connected in anyway the lady who answered the phone was rude and it was one red flag. When I talked to Nick T he kept on ensuring me that they were connected with roofing. The reason why Brea roofing came to mind and it waso important to me was because the original roof I had in my house which is 40 years old was a beautiful job and I wanted to keep that company.. universal charged me $2300 to replace 1strip of flashing on my leaking skylight. It took all of 1/2 hour to replace.. I was told there was no guarantee on the work. Well we shall see she how good their work is. It is supposed to rain tomorrow..The reason I accepted the conditions was because I trustedBrea Roofing..

We hired Universal Builders for a home renovation (paint, kitchen, bathrooms, flooring), and the experience was terrible. The project timeline more than doubled, often with only one worker present. We ultimately paid the final invoice with some work still unfinished, and—predictably—it was never completed. We knew better than to do that, but the "project fatigue" got to us to the extent that we really just needed to be done with them.

Biggest issue: Much of the electrical work was unsafe and not to code, requiring about $10,000 in corrective repairs by a licensed electrician. We have photos, documentation, and dated materials proving responsibility. Potentially putting a family at risk of fire like this should be criminal - I have no idea how inspections were passed. Paint quality was sloppy (there are still paint splatters on the floors), concrete steps were poured unevenly (only offered a discount on the work instead of fixing), hardwood floors were damaged (they ultimately did repair this and the hardwood floors look good), extremely sloppy tile work with way too much grout used in many, many places) and crews routinely left trash across the property. Personal property went missing and promised reimbursement was never provided. Antique door hardware was lost. Poor supervision, zero quality control (unless you include all the QC work we had to do as the homeowners), and disorganized materials management.

Based on our experience, we strongly recommend avoiding this company at all cost.

Mark from Universal Builders came out to bid the job of reroofing my house in Crestline.

I chose Universal Builders over 3 competing companies because Mark really took the time to check out why the roof was leaking at certain areas.

Mark called me each day to ask if he could get his crew going and start the job. I kept putting off my decision until I got more bids.

When I told Mark that another company underbid him by a significant amount, he asked if I could send him the competitive bid.

When Mark called again the next day, he explained that the other company had not accounted for several issues that needed to be addressed.

I called the company I was ready hire and asked them to give me their price if these issues were addressed. Suddenly the price went up to Mark’s original quote.

Mark got the job because he was thorough and up front with me from the very beginning.

Mark sent his crew out to start the tear off of the old roofing. Clear skies were forecast for the week, so imagine my surprise when rain started to drip into the house at 10:30 pm!

We called Mark. Mark called and woke up his crew. The guys drove almost 2 hours in the middle of the night, up the mountain roads in the rain.

They arrived at my house around 1:00 am. They all climbed up and tarped the entire roof in the middle of the night in the pouring rain until 3:30 in the morning!

Despite a few hiccups, the roofing job was completed and I am a happier homeowner with a good, strong roof that is warranteed for the next 50 years!

We worked with Bruce throughout the entire process of our remodel/roof repair, and we are so thankful for his help! The entire process was seamless, fast, and they did a beautiful job. Bruce maintained great communication with us and answered any questions we had. Great price and great results!
