Customer feedback is mixed. Positive reviews frequently note quick scheduling, help with real estate timelines, and fair pricing for repairs. Critical reviews mention communication issues, unclear expectations on inspections, and concerns about follow-up on reported leaks. Themes include responsiveness on some jobs but inconsistency in communication and warranty discussions.
Im not a big review person but over the past two years Garys crew has taken care of my very flat roof in a professional manner. Gary was referred to me from a local realtor and I have been happy with his services and pricing the entire time.
If you enjoy chaos, confusion, and cryptic communication, Gary Fox Roofing might be the company for you. I called them for a simple roof inspection after buying my new home in Dana Point. What followed was one of the strangest customer experiences I’ve ever had.First, I received abrupt, borderline rude messages from Gary himself — one saying “Text me the address”… followed by another saying he never schedules anything by text and that everything must be done via email (with very specific formatting instructions, of course). I followed his eccentric process exactly. Then — silence. For months.Out of nowhere, about three months later, my Ring camera caught a random guy showing up at my house while I was at work. He said he was “from Gary Fox Roofing” and was there to patch something. I had zero record of any job being scheduled or even approved, but told him to go ahead since he was already there. Ten minutes later, he was gone.Thirty minutes after that, I get an invoice for $100... plus an extra $155 “photo charge” (yes, you read that right — more for the photo than the repair). When I asked for proof of what was actually done, I was told “liability.” That was the explanation. No photos. No report. Just a bill and a bizarre justification.Between the manic communication style, surprise visits, and nonsensical billing, this whole experience felt more like performance art than professional service. Would highly recommend steering clear of this company and its multiple personalities.
I strongly recommend avoiding this company. I had a professional roof inspection done during our home purchase, and some roof repairs were identified. Gary ended up being hired by the sellers for these roof repairs, but not even a month later, I noticed a leak in the main bathroom. I reached out to Gary as he provides "warranty" on his work, but his employee Erin was extremely dismissive, claiming that the PROFESSIONAL ROOF INSPECTOR I hired didn't know what he was talking about and that Gary "stood by his work," despite the fact that the leak was clearly still there. To make matters worse, he tried to charge me $285 just to come out and fix the issue that should have been handled correctly from the start. This company has a clear lack of professionalism, and their approach to fixing mistakes is unacceptable. I've also seen several other customers complain about similar issues, which only reinforces my experience. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for reliable and trustworthy roofing services!
DO NOT USE! Like others, Gary Fox was recommended by my real estate agent. He was contracted to inspect our roof. He said the roof was in good condition and told us there was a few things to fix which he supposedly repaired. The roof leaked 2 months after buying with first rain and one of the leaks came from a skylight he supposedly repaired. The contract said he worked on 3 skylights but only repaired 1 and was suppose to increase the width of the valleys which again he did not do. This was at my son's home. I was a Fire Captain for 34 years and worked in construction before that so I have been on 100's of roofs and understand what should have been done. Unfortunately I was out of town for his bid and his repairs. I personally got on the roof and have had 2 additional roofers come look at the roof and both said not only did he do shoddy work but literally did not do work he was paid for in contract. Will be suing him in small claims court. AVOID at all costs!!!
Gary Fox Roofing is such an amazing company. I am a Realtor and he has helped on several of the homes I have sold for my buyers and sellers and my PERSONAL Residence. He is extremely professional, very quick with an amazing turnaround time and is an honest and fair business person with great prices. He has saved me and my clients a lot of money and time. I highly recommend Gary Fox Roofing. Truly an amazing company and person. Thank you for all that you guys do! I will be using you all again!
