Cam and Ben arrived for a free roof inspection right on time. They were very knowledgeable and informative on the Erie roofing systems. We enjoyed their presentation and talking to them. We had many questions and the few that Cam could not answer, he was honest about and he texted someone immediately and got the answers for us. We did not purchase that evening simply because we do not make quick decisions about anything and still needed to get other quotes.
I contacted Erie because I was seeing adds all of FB. They were the first company I called and wanted to get an idea of how much it would cost to replace my ~15-year-old roof. I initially did not have a problem with the sales team that came out but I was beyond annoyed by the time they left. It all went downhill when we started talking about price. I was looking for a roof not a new car. I was expecting an honest an upfront cost not a negotiation. I knew they had promotions and potential discounts, but I did not expect to get three different prices within 15 minutes. All prices they gave me had a 30-day guarantee for a 50sq roof and full disclosure the prices I am listing are ballpark: first was ~69k, then ~61k with discounts. We talked financing and I told them that I was not ready to commit as I needed discuss it with my wife and that I needed to look at our budget and ensure we could do it. I got asked how long that would take and what does that process look like. I was asked what it would take to sign today? I told them I am not signing anything today especially since these prices are guaranteed for 30 days. Then the other guy said let me step outside to call someone else. He comes back in after 10 minutes and says that if he does x, y, & z he can drop it to around 52k. I appreciate that they tried to make the price work but how they went about it was enough for me to never recommend them to anybody no matter how great their products or installation teams are. My advice to anyone that gets an estimate from them is DO NOT accept the first price.
They did a great job and completed the roof in a day. It is pricey. Actually, it’s well above average. The crew arrived early and ready to work as expected they were courteous and polite. They were willing to answer any questions. They also explained everything they found, all in all so far I’m satisfied.
