Arlene Woods on Weatherguard Roofing Inc

After dragging our feet on having our roofs replaced my husband got three estimates and he chose Weatherguard for the knowledge and integrity he received from Shane. The crew were very hard workers and had our three roofs replaced in no time. We will not hesitate to recommend them in the future.

Weatherguard Roofing installed a new roof on our barn in August 2016 as a condition of our property purchase. They recommended a second-layer overlay instead of a full tear-off to keep costs down and win the contract, assuring us it was acceptable. We relied on their expertise and moved forward.??We chose Weatherguard because of their many 5-star reviews and long-standing reputation. Unfortunately, our experience was nothing like those reviews—and we now see we’re not alone.

Within the first month, we experienced leaks. They blamed the plastic skylights—several of which blew off in a windstorm because they had not been properly fastened. We paid out of pocket to replace them with upgraded versions. When the leaks continued, they pointed to the dormers, cupola, and skylights. We hired contractors to repair those areas ourselves, spending another $6,000–$8,000.

Over the years, Weatherguard only returned to patch five visibly leaking areas. Interior water damage worsened, and multiple roofing professionals have since confirmed serious installation failures: lack of underlayment, inadequate flashing, and improper fastener placement. These findings are well documented.

Weatherguard’s paperwork represented a 10-year workmanship warranty, which was one of the key reasons we accepted their bid. When problems continued, they suddenly claimed the warranty was only five years. Despite sending them a detailed PDF containing our timeline, contractor assessments, photos, and email communication, they offered no resolution.

We are still within the 10-year period and made multiple attempts to resolve this directly. In a final meeting and follow-up letter, the owner formally denied coverage, blaming the building’s design—not their workmanship. From their letter:

“The building will continue to ‘move’ expand and contract throughout the seasons and time. This reason alone creates risk, the building will shift, expand, contract and the plywood will lift, and pop creating leak potential.”

This statement was their justification for denying any responsibility. However, the barn—built in the 1990s—has not changed structurally since the roof was installed. The problem is not movement. The problem is poor installation.??Reading other reviews, we now realize Weatherguard has fully replaced roofs when their repairs didn’t work. In our case, we were told that despite multiple failed repairs, they would not replace our roof—even at cost—even after the owner admitted it should have been a full tear-off. That would have cost just $6,000 more. We would have paid it.

We’ve done everything possible to work in good faith. We’re no longer seeking free repairs or a drawn-out battle. We simply want to warn others: Weatherguard’s workmanship and warranty were not reliable for us.

?IMPORTANT: Based on how the company has responded to others online, we expect a hostile reply to this review. That seems to be their pattern. Rather than address concerns, they often dismiss customers by deflecting blame or issuing legal threats. We have full documentation supporting our experience and are prepared to share it with anyone considering using this company.

We urge others to do their homework. We regret trusting Weatherguard and would not use them again.

Just had a partial Re-roof and couldn't be happier! Shane was fantastic getting things lined up and Keri was super helpful sorting out the details. Both were really responsive. The crew were very efficient, and such hard workers. Jorge helped get a soft area rebuilt and firmed up, and then saw to every detail wrapping the whole project up. Really appreciated his professional attention to each part of this job. Grateful to all and highly recommend this company!

We purchased our home with a roof that had been installed by Weatherguard three months prior. The material started malfunctioning and Weatherguard honored their warranty with multiple repairs. After several repairs, Weatherguard put on a whole new roof! Great company, crew, and office professional! We recommend them to anyone.
