Capital City Solar originally installed my solar system about five years ago, and it performed flawlessly for years. Recently, an unexpected issue arose — through no fault of Capital City Solar. I believe the manufacturer of the solar equipment pushed a firmware update down through the internet that unintentionally altered system settings and caused the malfunction.Despite multiple service visits from installers and even a solar battery representative, the issue persisted. At one point, I had resigned myself to the system being only “mostly” functional. However, Nicole at Capital City Solar refused to give up. She worked with me diligently and remained committed to getting everything fully resolved. Her persistence and dedication made all the difference. Ultimately, she sent out the original system designer, Gene. Gene, along with installer Clayton, quickly diagnosed the root cause and implemented the fix — new CT locations and polarity changes to the CTs due to the faulty software/firmware being pushed down from the manufacturer. Thanks to their expertise and determination, my system is now operating exactly as it should. It’s one thing to do a quality installation; it’s another to stand behind your work years later and ensure the customer is completely satisfied. Capital City Solar truly exemplifies long-term customer commitment and exceptional service.Thank you, Capital City Solar, and a special thank you to Nicole, Gene, and Clayton!Respectfully,Tom Vandre
Capital City Solar helped me install the Enphase Solar Monitoring on my solar panels after Sun Power went bankrupt and disabled the monitoring system on any of their equipment installed before 2025. Other solar services would not even look at my system because of the fact that SunPower went bankrupt, the age of the system and my integrated solar type panels.Nicole and Carrie in the office advocated for me! Luca, the electrician, did a spotless professional installation. All were lovely, helpful and kind!Thank you to all!!!! I'm so grateful!
I just had 12 solar panels installed and the system is up and running as of December 26th. I researched quite a few solar companies and am very happy with my decision to go with Capital City Solar. From my experience with sales (shout out to Brian H.) and Carrie and Nicole in the office my vast amount of questions were answered and I was always kept in the loop regarding next steps and timeline. Once installation time came the crew was professional and did a great job. Thanks to the Capital City Solar team!
Capital City Solar designed and installed our original system in 2015. They have provided excellent technical support for the last ten years. We contacted Brian to consult about expanding the system this year. We had several discussions regarding the various options and settled on a system to meet our increased needs and a battery to provide energy storage.Clayton, Luka, Josh, and Spencer did an excellent job with the setup and installation. Great design and outstanding quality of work!Nicole and Carrie are the office staff and are the liaisons for customer relations, utility interactions and county building permitting. They excelled in simplifying the various forms and permitting to keep the project moving. They are great to work with.I look forward to working with them in the future and I would whole heartedly recommend Capital City Solar to design and install a solar system.
Let me start by saying that the customer service, attentiveness, responsiveness and professionalism at Capital City Solar is impeccable. The reasons we chose Capital City are because they aligned with our priorities, based off concerns with the solar industry in general (There is no shortage of horror stories). 1) We wanted a company that had good reviews, had been in business for a good amount of time and had a business model that appeared sustainable. One that appeared poised to weather any market flux major events, similar to past historic events that affected the larger companies. Capital City is a small business, with top reviews, nothing negative to note on any websites we could find, to include the CSLB and BBB. They do your normal installations and sales, but they also shy away from commercial and are known for troubleshooting and repairing older systems, or integrating with them where other companies refuse to. This gives them a unique advantage from the business perspective and made us feel safe that our equipment would be able to get serviced down the road and that warranty work would get taken care of. 2) We wanted top-tier equipment, but more importantly equipment that was manufactured by a company that was most likely to not go bankrupt/out of business/shut down manufacturing. This was to give us the best chance at equipment longevity, and to get value out of our equipment and warranty life long term. We chose REC panels with a Powerwall 3 for these reasons. 3) Track record. By reading reviews, we could tell that Capital City valued customer service, communication and quality of work. They are known for standing by their work and warranty service, which made choosing them a no-brainer. For prospective buyers: You can by all means find systems offered for various price points, some higher and some lower, but we felt that when considering all the above points that Capital City offered the best value for what our concerns and needs were. I would caution anyone when selecting a company to perform the installation (and ultimately perform future warranty work if needed), that you do your research and really take heed of customer complaints with warranty work, processes unique to equipment malfunctions and customer service response times/communication quality. A solar system will last between 10-20 years for the inverter/battery depending on the system design/size and the panels can go much longer, closer to 30 years or more before it makes sense to upgrade to newer technology or expand the system. We would go with Capital City Solar again and if we should choose to expand our system, we would feel comfortable doing so with them.
