We had a great experience with Rhino Renewables Solar & Electric. They were very knowledgeable about integration of solar systems with our existing whole house generator system. They carefully evaluated what we already had, in terms of backup systems and reviewed with us estimates of how much power we could generate with the geo location of our roof and potential seasonal sun exposure. In other words, they didn’t try to upsell unnecessary equipment, and that was much appreciated. They were timely in delivery of materials and the installation of roof panels and battery backup. From Sales to Project Management to the Installation Team, we experienced great communication from the customer service perspective. They are financially competitive in the solar marketplace and we can highly recommend that you include them in your bid process.
Rhino renewables was a great company to work with . My experience with them was very positive. They were always professional and did what the promised. I would highly recommend them to any customer.
Selecting RhinoRhino’s price was not the least expensive, but they gave us the equipment and the operability that we were looking for. We wanted solar panels, battery back up and net metering from Duke Energy. They helped us understand the costs, options for local utility rebates, and the rate schedules.Designing the systemRhino gave us three options for number of panels and placement on the roof. We wanted the batteries placed in the basement and they were able to show permitting authority that there was an appropriate place. We had to clean out 3 feet in front of the batteries, but they were able to place them on the wall exactly where we wanted them. Our system included an automatic transfer switch that would cause the batteries to furnish power to the house in the event the electric grid went down. This was important, because in an older neighborhood with a lot trees like ours, it’s not unusual to lose power. Rhino spent time going over which circuits might be most important to us and helped us to decide how we wanted the batteries to serve the house.Installing the systemRhino was flexible with the installation. We are out of their typical service area, but they made arrangements to come to Charlotte to do the work. They told us to expect that it would take 3 to 5 days. They completed the work in four days and on the fifth day, they met with the inspector. Everything went smoothly, Chadd answered every question that the inspector had, and there were no issues. The inspector seemed to be impressed with Rhino.Reviewing the system with usRhino then spent at least an hour going over system operation with us. We feel comfortable that it is set up properly and working to our best advantage.System operationThe house has not lost power since the installation. In the year prior to Rhino installing the solar and battery system, we had power bills that ranged from $94-$294. Since the installation, our bills have ranged from -$37 to +$66. For the last four months, we have made so much energy and used so little that Duke Energy owes us a cumulative $112. We are very happy with the system. The apps are easy to use and informative. Rhino did a great job for us.
We were really impressed with Rhino Renewables from start to finish. Before trying to sell us anything, they came out to assess our property and determine feasibility, a refreshing and professional approach. They provided a detailed rundown of our options and a thorough, transparent quote that came in right within budget. When installation began, the crew was efficient, polite, and kept the work area spotless , cleaning up after themselves every day. They kept us informed throughout the entire process, helped with all the rebate and credit applications they could, and made everything feel completely turn-key.We were pleasantly surprised by their level of efficiency, professionalism, and responsiveness. Highly recommend Rhino Renewables to anyone considering solar!
Rhino did an amazing job! Their service was top-notch. We needed to add 12 extra batteries to our off-grid system. But here’s the catch: we didn’t have enough space in the current location to fit them all. So, we wanted to move them to another spot in the garage. Rhino was super helpful and designed the system to minimize battery loss, if not eliminate it, between the batteries and our two inverters. Since we’re 100% off-grid, it was crucial to us to keep as much power as possible from our system. We were worried about a power outage if everything was moved and then back up and running smoothly. But Rhino kept us super informed. Even before signing the contract, they understood how much time we needed for everything. And once the contract was signed, they kept us updated on when they’d be coming to our remote location, which is about an hour and a half from their shop. They were transparent about when the system would be down, so we could plan our work outage since we both work from home and have Teams calls throughout the day. After the installation, communication has been great too. We had a few questions that weren’t covered in the contract or their preview, but they were more than happy to share their thoughts on how we should proceed. We’d definitely use them again and highly recommend them!
