A small group from OLLI in Tuscaloosa, AL toured the Solar Home on March 7th, 2024. We were impressed! We also heard from the Black Warrior RiverKeeper. His talk was eye-opening, with facts to back up the data.
We stopped in when they were not open for visitors, but we still got a great feel for what this place is all about- from a sustainability standpoint, it’s such a great model for how we can change and adapt and take better care of the resources we have available. Our son passed away in 2015 and he was an architect who was very, very interested in projects like this. He believed in saving, conserving, reusing, and repurposing for the future. He would have loved this very cool experience.
The UAB solar house and gardens are a must see if you're interested in vegetable gardening, alternative energy sources and sustainability. Ashling Landers expertly showed me the garden areas today and the solar house on a previous visit. What a fantastic resource for the whole Birmingham area!
