If you are considering having solar panels installed be sure to check out EGT Solar in Meridian. They recently installed panels and all the associated electrical equipment for a grid tied system on our house. The process couldn’t have been more trouble free. EGT took care of all the permits and kept us up to date on their progress. The installation crew showed up on time, was polite, courteous, efficient and answered any questions we had. They also did a very good job of cleanup at the end of the project. We have been contacted several times since the installation to make sure we understood how to monitor the system and check to make sure we didn’t have any questions. One of the best things was that the price we were quoted at the beginning was the price we paid. There were no hidden or last minute charges added to the original price.EGT Solar is a first class operation and you won’t be disappointed if you choose them to handle your solar project.Chris and Robin TyhurstParma, ID
Exceeded My Expectations. Starting from the initial quote, EGT Solar delivered the system precisely as planned. They handled communication and permitting with Idaho Power and local building inspectors. As a member of a homeowner's association, I was the first to take the step of installing a rooftop solar generation system on my townhome. This decision was not taken lightly, as I was committed to choosing a system that would deliver on the promise of a regenerative solar-powered future. Now, with the Regeneration Credits reflected on my power bill and the return on my investment becoming evident, I am reaping the financial benefits of my decision to install a solar system.
I will start off with saying I had almost given up on trying to find a reputable Solar company. I interviewed and researched 8 companies before I found EGT. How I found this was peculiar to say the least. I called Meridian Permitting and Inspection office and Idaho Power and asked them who they have worked with in the past that has given them the least amount of trouble. Both said without a doubt. EGT Solar. So I started researching this company. They have an actual brick and mortar store. (this is a big deal as it's interpreted that they are well established)When I drove over to their store, pulling up. There's a banner that says, "We do not door knock". This is great I say! Meaning they use the power of referrals and good work to drive their business. Huge plus for me! Speaking to the company they all felt like they had a vested interest in getting me exactly what I wanted and were very patient explaining additional details that I didn't know about. I left there informed. Then I went to the BBB. This is no joke. I expected there to be 20 plus complaints like all the other 8 companies who are doing solar in the valley that I researched. But no kidding, there was not a single complaint. Not even one. Shocked I decided that this was worth having them do one last proposal and see what comes of it.Now for the process. I emailed them with the specs that I wanted. 30 REC Panels, Enphase Inverters. And wanted them to run their software to see how it would come up with for panel layout. I already knew where I wanted the panels and Dan Bennett (sales manager) came back with the exact layout that I was planning. Phenomenal! The price breakdown was very thorough and the solar projections were spot on as well. (Actually more accurate than any other company) I wanted electric car chargers as well and they included them and a SPAN Panel on a separate proposal so we could see the actual break even of the solar based on tax incentives and solar offset. It was better than all the other companies.I was not being gouged or lied too like the other companies. They had an honest and transparent approach with no pressure sales. This was completely different than the other companies. I pulled the trigger and set up to install with them. Their warranty is also top notch. They even had a Net Metering guarantee top things off.Installation:They emailed me a checklist the week before and called the day before the install so I could plan on them, and what to expect. Timeframe was also laid out. They explained that there are sometimes an extra day for extensive installs such as mine and I planned accordingly. Very nice of them. The day of install went perfectly. They were polite and respectful of my property. They asked to take off shoes during install when entering house. That was amazing. The installers were thinking beyond themselves which is a rarity these days. I had asked them to keep the roof sealant warm and they did that as well. Install of panels on the roof were completed in one day. The SPAN panel took a second day as my house was previously wired for a generator and they needed to do a complete rework of both my sub panels. I had previously mapped out my circuits in my house and had a list for them to follow to keep the essential circuits on the SPAN panel and they followed it perfectly. No questions asked.3 Months Into Ownership:With the install of the SPAN and the Enphase without a battery proposed a challenge for the company. We had several call outs to figure out the consumption monitoring. The production has exceeded their estimates and has been producing well and monitoring was accurate. They worked with Enphase and was able to get the monitoring of both the consumption and the production accurate but took some work. They didn't give up and I really appreciate that. If you are in the market for Solar, and given the next few years of major increases in energy costs imposed by Idaho Power. I highly recommend EGT Solar. They stand behind their products and they are the most honest I've found.
I have been working with Bryan for a few years as we planned and built our forever house. He was exceptionally professional and patient throughout the process. His team was also exceptionally competent and professional. The installation crew took extra care to make the experience easy, and the craftsmanship was top-notch. There was a glitch in the plans on installation day and we had to move some mounts and panels. EGT went above and beyond, hiring a roofing company to come out and ensure everything was as good as new. Their entire crew is local so if there is an issue, they will just come out to the site and check things out. It was a really great experience, and now I am no longer paying Idaho Power! 10 out if 10 would definately recommend!
I contacted EGT to provide a solar system installation for my home. My initial reason for using them was the fact that they had a brick and mortar operation, and I was not interested in doing business with a door to door solar sales company.I initially met with Dan B. at EGT who walked me through an overview of what the project would be. They analyzed a year's worth of power consumption data, factored in a future electric vehicle, and provided an estimate. The estimate was thorough and was based on solid engineering (I work for a large engineering firm that specializes in renewables and power distribution). The entire process was a very positive experience. Dan and his team remained available and engaged even after the project was over. Another pleasant surprise was the professionalism and friendliness of the install crew. Really a great team throughout. In my opinion, in addition to them doing a great job, there are two really important things to keep in mind when considering this company for your solar installation.1) EGT is the contractor. They aren't hiring a third party to pull the permits, do the work, and usher the paperwork through with the city and Idaho Power. Its all on them, the construction went great and the permitting process was completely invisible to me.2) The owner and EGT staff are politically active and are renewables advocates. They spend considerable personal time lobbying for renewables with the IPUC and others in support of private/commercial solar systems. In short, it was a really great experience and I'm very happy with my decision to work with EGT Solar.
