Recent reviews frequently mention long timelines tied to permitting and administrative changes, along with frustrations about communication and follow-up during post-install steps. Several customers report needing multiple calls or emails for status updates. Some feedback notes that installations themselves can proceed as expected, but utility approvals and final activation may take longer than anticipated. Expectations around energy bill reductions have also come up as a concern in a few reviews.
Awful situation overall, zero stars if I could. I had a neighbor who recommended Blue Raven Solar, who had a good installation, but my experience was not like theirs. Started the process in August of 2025 and was assured that the installation would happen by the end of December to be able to qualify for the federal tax credit. After SO many problems with permitting (the company consistently making mistakes) and their lack of communication, we canceled the project. Spoke to our former salesperson who confirmed that once Sun Power bought out Blue Raven, all forward progress on our project stopped. I was assured that our refund of over seventeen thousand dollars would take at the most two to three weeks to process. It is now six weeks later and no refund. I have called each week with the same response from customer service each time, we will let accounting know. After emailing project management and accounting multiple times, along with failed attempts at resolving this issue with customer service, I have asked to speak with any supervisors. The customer service response is they will call you back shortly. I have never gotten a call back. I am now engaging with an attorney to handle their breach of contract. Sun Power is unresponsive, inept when permitting projects, and does not care about any customers. Please avoid this company at all costs!
I have had an extremely disappointing and ongoing experience with Blue Raven Solar, and I regret choosing them for our solar installation.Although the salesperson was personable, we were told we would “never have an electricity bill again.” That claim has proven to be completely inaccurate and set unrealistic expectations from the start. We signed our paperwork in February 2025, yet installation was not completed until September 2025, an eight-month delay. Communication throughout that time was slow and inconsistent. During that period, I even requested a refund due to the lack of progress, but instead of honoring that request, I was told they would “expedite” the process. Looking back, I wish I had pushed harder to cancel. Two months after installation, during a heavy rainstorm in October 2025, we discovered a roof leak. Two independent roofing companies confirmed that our roof had been completely totaled by a prior hailstorm. Blue Raven sent their own technician, who agreed the roof was totaled. After weeks of back-and-forth, a manager emailed (rather than calling) to inform us that we would be responsible for the full $6,500 cost to remove and reinstall the panels so we could replace the damaged roof. These panels had been installed only two months earlier. We were ultimately told it was not their responsibility to verify the roof’s condition before installation and that the photos taken at the time were “sufficient,” despite the hail damage and the confirmed roof failure. As a result, we paid a substantial amount for the solar system, waited eight months for installation, and were then required to pay an additional $6,500, a cost that could likely have been avoided had a proper roof inspection been required prior to installation. This experience has shown a clear lack of accountability and customer care. Solar is a long-term financial commitment, and customers deserve transparency, thorough evaluation, and proactive communication, especially when monthly payments are involved. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience.Overall, this process has been expensive, unnecessarily stressful, and deeply disappointing.
Epic fail. Installation went perfectly. Installation crew had to make changes which required an "as built" permit change. Design department "lost" it for almost 2 months. Salesman, Pete Vieth, stopped returning texts and calls. Over the 4 month process, I have made over 70 telephone calls, 17 emai threads, 3 text chains with 41 texts. No joy. I think Blue Raven/Sunpower is going bankrupt. Surprise surprise.
Would be zero stars if I could. Absolutely terrible experience. Had to inform their people how to navigate approval and permits with Colorado Springs Utilities because they had no idea how the signature process went. Additional administrative mistake after mistake has held this project up for months. We started this process in July once paperwork was finally sorted we were scheduled for Oct 20th. 2 hours later they cancelled the appointment due to "supply issues" and was told Blue Raven would be in touch. Three days later had the technician show up bright and early waiting for the supplier to bring the components. I had to tell him what was going on and he reached out to the supplier and was given a completely different supply issue. Two days later sales calls to tell me that our system was downgraded so it could be completed. I voiced my concern that this was a breach of contract by altering our original agreement. He was apathetic and said someone else would get a hold of me. Then days of nothing. Finally after much frustration (never answer phones and voicemail is full) I got a hold of project management. I was told after bringing up the breach of contract that they would give me a no cost upgrade of 10w per panel, still voiced my concerns and asked about cancellation. Since they're so slow we were past the 10 day cool down and I would incur a $1200 cancellation fee. Project manager said she would call back that evening to offer further incentives after talking with her boss. She didnt call back that evening and I wasnt able to get a hold of her for another 6 days and only by calling customer service and threatening cancelation and potential litigation if I couldnt talk to someone at project management. Best part no further incentive, no upgrade, no availability till mid Nov. I have little faith in this company coming through. This has got to be the most incompetent business I have ever seen. Departments obviously don't communicate or hand things over, workers don't understand their own workflows, zero responsiveness or follow through. My 8 year old could run a business better than these clowns.Did I mention I was enrolled in their Customer Sales program (put a sign in front of the house, tell your neighbors how great they are and get incentives for closer sales). I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy. Stay away from this dumpster fire.
Panels Installed, But UselessIf I could give Blue Raven zero stars, I would. The installation of our solar panels happened four months ago, and we STILL cannot use them. Why? Because of Blue Raven’s constant missteps and complete lack of communication. They installed the wrong placards, which means the electric company won’t approve our system. And since the electric company only deals directly with the solar provider, we’re stuck. Every time we ask for help, it takes at least two weeks to hear back. When we do get a response, it’s vague, unhelpful, and usually leads to another problem. We’ve invested thousands of dollars into a system that is literally just sitting on our roof, useless, because Blue Raven cannot manage basic follow-up. Their silence and lack of accountability are unacceptable. If you’re considering solar, look elsewhere. The panels themselves might look fine, but the nightmare of being ignored and strung along for months is not worth it.
