Recent reviews are mixed. Positive notes mention quick installation timelines and helpful permit handling. Critical feedback cites communication gaps after installation, warranty exclusions around animal damage, and frustration with billing expectations versus production, with some customers feeling caught between the installer and the utility. Prospective customers often suggest clarifying add-ons like critter guards, production expectations, and support response times before signing.
I would love to give this company a negative amount of stars. Overall, initial setup, installation, and ongoing support post installation are all crap and I urgently suggest you look elsewhere. I have never regretted a decision until I began working with them. Would have canceled, but I was threatened in order to proceed as they would not let me out of the contract despite being lied to and misled by their door to door salesman.
Overpowered by squirrels. The solar panels started out fine but now 4 years later squirrels have moved in and caused a lot of damage. When they came out to assess the damage none of it is covered under warranty and I “should have had critter guards” this is the first I’m hearing about it since I am not a solar panel expert. Now I have to cover the cost of getting rid of the squirrels, adding the critter guards, fixing the roof for the new leak after the team came out to inspect which is also being blamed on the squirrels, and then I have to pay to replace the panels to get them working again. I would not recommend this.
If I could do zero stars, I would. In my experience, after 2 years with the panels, I have doubled my utility costs. Still have an electric bill and paying for the loan on the panels. Duke and Ion play a fun game of blame the other company, and the customer is stuck in the middle with no recourse.
Had a squirrel recently decide to make a home under one of our panels and burrow into our roof, causing a leak which damaged our attic and bedroom ceiling. Ion did not inform us of this possibility when they sold/installed the panels, despite having trees right next to our house. They won’t pay for any of the damage and will charge us nearly a thousand dollars to get a “critter guard” installed to keep it from happening again. We asked them to provide the critter guard as a gesture, in light of the damage we’re already having to pay for, and they wouldn’t even give us a discount. This is a company that will do absolutely nothing for you once you’ve signed that dotted line. We’ve had our panels for several years and they’ve cost us more money than they’ve saved.Avoid, and find a solar company that will be a partner with you during the life of your panels.
Everything has been great from our Salesman Luis to the installation team who installed this system in just 1 day! Not to mention ION's team did all the permits and always kept me informed!
