After getting quotes from 5 solar installers, I signed a contract with NCSN in July 2025 for Canadian Solar panels and a Tesla Powerwall. 8M Solar was also competitively priced so it was a tough choice, but NCSN had a slightly lower solar loan interest rate and higher panel wattage.

I really wanted to avoid giving $$$ to Elon but Tesla had the only battery with a built-in solar inverter, and we couldn't justify an extra $5K+ to go with Franklin or Enphase. :/

NCSN estimated up to 3 months before install day, and beat that as my battery + panels were installed in mid September. They took care of everything as expected from HOA approval to local permitting. My house began using generated solar power by the end of install day, though I had to wait ~2 weeks for Duke Energy to approve selling excess electricity back to the grid.

As expected, my electric bill has dropped to near Duke Energy's $28 monthly minimum charge. My lowest was $7 in October when it cooled enough that we stopped running the A/C and exported more power than we used. I expect to pay up to $100 during the hottest summer months as my 9.2 KW DC production isn't expected to fully cover our electric needs, but that's much better than the $300 electric bill we had last July. The difference is roughly equal to my monthly loan payments. To clarify, I own my panels & battery so think of my payments like a mortgage for them. Avoid companies that primarily LEASE panels.

Through Duke Energy's PowerPair program, I received a check in November for the full $$$$ NCSN estimated, about 1/3 of my total install price. If you are looking for a solar installer, I recommend applying for this program if it still exists.

I had a few small software issues with my battery but NCSN helped resolve them. They were both very helpful and appreciative from my cooperation in escalating these issues, which I'm taking as a good sign if I have problems in the future. I do feel like these issues should have been known before me, but I'm giving NCSN a pass as I may have literally been in the first group of customers dealing with those issues and they resolved them in a timely manner.

Panels and batteries are quite reliable but even the best ones have small defect rates. Hopefully mine do not, but I expect NCSN to help in the future if I have problems. I will update this review if they don't help as I expect, but for now, they deserve a 5 star review. I am a satisfied customer.

From start to finish, our experience with NC Solar Now has been incredible. We highly recommend them to anyone considering solar.

The sales process was a breath of fresh air, thanks to our sales rep, Brittany B. She was knowledgeable, upfront, and didn't resort to the high-pressure sales tactics we experienced with other companies. There was no mention of political agendas, down payment deadlines, or "limited-time" promotions. Brittany was transparent about the cost and explained why NC Solar Now's approach, though not the absolute cheapest, would save us money in the long run by avoiding common shortcuts. There was no pressure to put down a deposit, which was a huge relief.
