I always had a dream of installing solar panels on the south-facing roof of my house but never felt it was the right time to pull the trigger...until I realized the beefy federal tax incentive was going away at the end of the year. I suddenly found myself racing to get quotes from every solar installer under the sun (ha!).The main concern in my solar quote hunt was the timeline. Since I was one among many scrambling to install a solar system before December 31, every solar company was booked well into November and December. I didn't want to lose tens of thousands in tax incentives based on the semi-hopeful promise of a slimy salesman. After a week, I wasn't fully confident in the current slate of quotes so reached out to North Coast after reading good reviews about this local business.North Coast was the last quote I got, but also the only company to send someone to my house. Maybe I'm a sucker for in-person sales calls, but Jimmy passed the vibe check (as the kids say). He was honest and forthcoming about my budget, the other quotes, and timeline. Initially, he was predicting an end of October install and end of November "permission to operate" (PTO) from DTE to feed energy back into the grid. He was also willing to negotiate a price drop to match the quote of another company I was considering.In the end, I'm pleased to say that not only was the system installed much earlier than promised (October 2nd), but I was granted PTO by October 28th. Aesthetically, the whole system (20 REC panels & Enphase battery) is low-profile and looks great. The installation was done in a single day, and the installers were very helpful in answering my questions. There were a few initial hiccups we worked through, but my system is now fully operational by the initially predicted install date.Lastly, I have to say North Coast's communication was especially refreshing. Eric in particular did an excellent job keeping me updated on permits, agreements, and timeline. Just being able to text a contractor and get a near-immediate reply is already a huge plus in my book.
From the start, had a great experience with James scheduling the estimate. He was accommodating, punctual, and took time explaining everything and answering questions. He was transparent with scheduling and we had our install.a couple weeks later as promised. The crew arrived early, worked hard, and wrapped up our Gemstone Light installation in one day. The guys did a great install, were respectful, walked me through everything, did a demo, and cleaned up so well you couldn't even tell they were here. A few days in and we're so happy with our decision!

I recently had a solar system installed by North Coast Solar, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, the process was made much smoother thanks to the outstanding support from Jimmy and Eric. The Township was especially difficult to work with on my project, and we had to make several changes along the way—but Jimmy and Eric stayed responsive, patient, and incredibly helpful throughout it all.I’ll admit I wasn’t the easiest customer at times, but they never made me feel like a burden. Jimmy, in particular, was a pleasure to work with—always professional, communicative, and genuinely invested in making sure everything went right. The installation crew showed up on time, were friendly, and did a clean, efficient job. I’m especially happy with how they routed the piping—it looks great and shows real attention to detail.Not only am I thrilled with the finished solar install, but I’m also planning to have them back to replace my main panel and, when the time comes, my generator. I’m looking forward to working with Jimmy, Eric, and the team again. Highly recommended!
