These guys knocked on our door the other day. We sat down with them today after going through reviews and made the appointment. Let’s just say after seeing the numbers and by the way Tim is a great guy and knows his stuff. We have decided to go SOLAR!!

Thanks Morgan for the knock on the door and thanks Tim for the sit down and showing us all the numbers and making this make sense.

Tim and the Firefly team have been great to work with. This is actually my second time installing solar. I had a system installed on a previous home about 3 years ago before selling. Not only did I recoup the cost of the system in the sale, but I also enjoyed no electricity costs while I owned the home. Winter bills were offset by the credits built up during the summer months.

This installation went even more smoothly. Once permits were approved with the City of Lethbridge, their team was able to schedule the install within a couple weeks. They were efficient, professional, and left everything clean when the job was done. Communication throughout the process was excellent and they made everything very straightforward.

If you are thinking about going solar, these guys definitely know what they are doing. And if you are still on the fence, I have done quite a bit of research myself and even put together a video explaining what to expect with solar in Canada. Search "Solar in Canada" and my video should pop up first.

With increasing electricity demand from things like EVs and AI data centres, it is hard to imagine electricity costs going anywhere but up over the long term, which makes investing in solar today feel like a smart move.

Highly recommend Tim and the Firefly team if you are considering making Solar.

I genuinely wanted to like this company. At the start, everything sounded great, everything “made sense,” and I would have happily given a 5-star review. That optimism did not survive past the moment they got paid.

Once the money cleared, the service disappeared. What followed was a chaotic dump of emails, links, and forms, essentially saying “good luck” while I was left to sign up for multiple loans and grants on my own—with little to no guidance. Things that should be basic somehow got missed. Panels were installed before the loan was even officially approved, which was a fun surprise.

As a result, I paid a high-interest loan for nearly a year while trying to untangle a process I was never properly walked through. All of this could have been avoided with minimal support or, honestly, a human being explaining the steps. Instead, I felt lost, ignored, and very aware that customer service ended the moment payment was secured.

Solar panels are a good idea. This company is not. I’d recommend the product, just not the people selling it.

We had an excellent experience with our solar project with Firefly. Tim is extremely knowledgeable and personable. Our install was April 2024 with Kuby so just about a year of results and sure enjoyed having the summer off from paying any power or gas. The credits covered it all and was a nice reprieve.

Frequently Asked Questions

They commonly serve residential customers and also handle commercial and agricultural projects based on Alberta market references. The process typically begins with a site assessment to size a system that matches energy usage. Availability may depend on roof condition, orientation, and local utility requirements.

Timelines vary by project size and permitting, but customers often report a smooth process once approvals are in place. After design and permits, on-roof work can usually be completed in a short window, followed by utility approval to energize the system.

They provide guidance on local programs and interconnection steps. Some reviewers noted they received links and resources, though a few wanted more hands-on assistance with applications. It’s best to ask during your consultation what paperwork they handle directly.

Have a recent electricity bill and basic roof details ready so the team can size your system. Photos of your electrical panel and roof can also help streamline the assessment and provide more accurate numbers.

Customers frequently report reduced electricity costs, with summer production offsetting part of winter usage through credits. Actual results depend on system size, usage patterns, and sunlight. Your proposal should include modeled production and estimated bill impacts.
