Customer feedback is mixed. Positive notes mention knowledgeable consultations and installations that met expectations. Critical reviews cite long timelines, difficulty reaching the company for follow-up, and unresolved service issues. Prospects often highlight the importance of clear communication about schedules and post-install support.

Custom Solar installed my system a couple of years ago.

One panel flew off in less than 50 mph winds and they never fixed it. Now they claim that they are out of business.

They do not service the systems they install. Beware.

We have had our solar panels from Custom Solar and Electric installed just prior to Hurricane Ian. David Keljik was very knowledgeable in what our needs were to be independent from the grid and have the ablility to run the necessary things to get through the grid going down, maintaining power with battery back up to run our necessary appliances. Having battery backup which allowed us the advantage of having power when the grid went down was very important to us as there was no interruption in our service and we didn't need fuel to keep our power going because the sun fueled our batteries every day. We always had the power we needed to do the things we needed. We were very thankful for the knowledge and service David gave us. Oh did I mention we were in the SE part of the eye of Ian and there was no damage to our panels. Quality work!!! Highly recommend!! Another upside is our electric bills are only $25 a month for the hookup fee and we did get a small check at the end of the year. WIN WIN

Our experience with Custom Solar has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. We hired them to install solar panels, but they consistently failed to fulfill their promises.

We had no choice but to involve our attorney to resolve the matter before considering legal action. Despite giving them another chance, they continued to disappoint.

Most recently, they agreed to come and check/fix our solar panels on 06/17, after confirming ten days prior. I took a time off from work, only for them not to show up.

It's clear that their reliability and customer service are severely lacking. We strongly advise others to steer clear of this company.

Edit to the response: You’re full of excuses. It wasn’t the first time you failed to keep your promises!! You’re expected to let other party know if there’s any sort of delay.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

I am extremely dissatisfied with Custom Solar and Electric. The installation process was a nightmare, taking almost nine months to complete. The system malfunctioned from day one, and the customer service was abysmal. I had to constantly chase them for updates and solutions, but their technicians were incompetent and unresponsive. I have given them many chances to get it correct. Even the owner made promises to pay off my loan and remove the faulty system but failed to follow through. We have an agreement to remove the system and pay off the loan. He personally came to my house and made this agreement. We have been paying FPL as well as the finance company that gave us the loan for the solar system. Avoid this company at all costs. Please also check better business bureau for complaints about this company. He will be sued.

My name is Philip a homeowner here in swfl. After looking at a few different solar companies I found custom solar a local company which I prefer using local companies. I see I made the correct choice david and Mike where both helpful and knowledgeable in answering any questions. There crew of installers where great work and job was professionally installed and they answered any questions. I would recommend custom solar.

Frequently Asked Questions

They handle grid-tied solar panel systems and related electrical components. Some projects also include battery backup integration when specified in the proposal. System specifics depend on your roof, electric usage, and goals. Ask for equipment brands, warranties, and a layout with expected production.

Timelines vary based on permitting, utility approval, and workload. Reviews indicate some projects experienced delays, so it’s wise to request a written schedule with milestones. Clarify how changes or inspections can affect the timeline. Regular updates during permitting and installation can help set expectations.

Service policies appear to vary by project, and reviews describe mixed experiences with follow-up. Ask for a written service plan that explains response times, diagnostic fees, and what is covered. It’s also helpful to know how monitoring alerts are handled. Keep all documentation and system information accessible.

In many cases, batteries can be added if the inverter and wiring are compatible. Request an assessment to review equipment, code requirements, and utility rules. A detailed scope should outline circuits to be backed up and expected runtime. Confirm any additional permits or inspections needed.

Verify equipment models, production estimates, project milestones, and payment schedule. Confirm warranty terms for panels, inverters, and workmanship, plus who handles warranty claims. Ask about change orders and how unforeseen conditions are managed. Ensure contact points for project updates and post-install support are listed.
