Simply Solar

Thanks for everything Rachel! We actually got two systems with Simply Solar. They are professional, fast to respond, and have transparent communication. Great team from the project manager, to the battery and system experts, to the people doing the installation. We liked working with them so much that we added to our system over time. There are a lot of shady short lived solar companies out there, but this company is not one of them. We spoke to over 5 companies and ended up going with Simply Solar for their prices, knowledge, warranties and communications.

Where to begin, my dealings with Simply Solar have been one of the most frustrating experience with any business so far. Their failure to schedule a short and simple job led to months of delay for my reroofing project. We are talking about 3-4 months. We had an unambiguous “no cost remove-and-replace” clause in the contract if I wanted a new roof after putting solar panels on. They sent me a $5k bill for this supposedly free remove-and-replace job. They over-promised and under-delivered for our project so much, I feel obligated to warn the rest of the world by sharing my experience. Sigh.

Simply Solar has been simply excellent to work with from the initial meeting with Jeff Walkup, through the design, planning and permitting with Adam Kanoff to the final install with Jerry Fang. Jerry and has team completed our install within the two days they budgeted. They arrived on time, were professional and friendly and were thoughtful about equipment and conduit locations. We had a tricky roof to get onto and they never hesitated. Jerry is clearly experienced and I highly recommend working with Simply Solar.

Amazing work by everyone on the team. From planning to installation the team were very professional and the system is working flawlessly. The responsiveness of the team was the one aspect I appreciated the most, answering questions or providing updates on the process. Even post installation the support team are always very responsive to followup questions. I would highly recommend Simply Solar to anyone looking to install a solar system.

Stay away from this company, from the owners to the workmanship to the sales team, we’ve had a disastrous, dishonest experience that we would not wish upon anyone. Simply Solar installed solar on our roof after several delays in scheduling on their part and lies from the salesman including, that he’d be present for the installation, and an unauthorized rebate among other things. Management apologized and we moved forward. This was a warning sign that I wish we had heeded. After a few days, we began to be concerned about what appeared to be many broken tiles during the installation process and brought this up both to the installers and to the business head office. They assured us that the tiles would be replaced and that was a part of the process. After what was supposed to be a 3-4 day install turned into over a week, the roof began to look worse and worse. We reached out to the head office multiple times, asking for their roofing team to come see what was going on—no word. Finally, once the installation team was “done”, we relayed our shocking situation to two of the Simply Solar owners. They assured us that it was bad, but it would be fine, they’d fix it, they’d “make it right”. This has been an ongoing nightmare now for NINE months. Due to the negligence and poor workmanship of Simply Solar, we have: - several leaks to the interior of our home, likely with mold between the drywall - a tarped roof STILL nine months after installation - a decimated tile roof, which was inspected 9 months prior to installation and said to have 20+ years of life to go - a poorly installed solar system As we’ve fought with Simply Solar to return our new home to its preexisting state, we’ve consulted industry experts to determine what really happed and what needs to be fixed. These include: construction/contractors, mold and water remediation, roof inspectors and installers, tile industry and installation experts and solar best practices experts. At every level, the feedback that we received was that the work was shockingly poor and the roof was in great shape, prior to the installation. Missing screws, incorrectly installed brackets, lack of flashing, incorrect tiles installed, tiles poorly glued together…the list goes on and on. It doesn’t feel good to write this review. But we’ve worked with the ownership of Simply Solar for nine months to remedy this situation in good faith. We’re now approaching the rainy season. I wish we’d never met these people; I wish we hadn’t installed solar; I wish you the best on your search for a company who values quality and integrity—this is not it.
