I had my solar panel system installed years ago, and it has not been performing as expected. Instead of addressing the issue with the existing system, I was told that the solution would be to add more panels at an additional cost.

I contacted customer support today and was informed that I would need to pay $600 just for a technician to come out and inspect the system, in addition to paying for any parts that may need replacement. Considering the system has not been performing properly, I am concerned about being charged such a high fee simply to evaluate the problem.

I would appreciate a review of my case and a clear explanation of why the system is underperforming and what options are available to resolve the issue without excessive additional charges.

Our experience during the sale of our home in Reno, NV involved Sunrun, Remi Roofing— and it has been costly and extremely stressful.
When we had solar panels installed nearly five years ago, it was implied that if roof work was ever needed, Sunrun would handle the panel removal process. What we later learned is that you are referred to one of their contracted roofing companies and cannot freely hire your own roofer due to the solar equipment.
During our home sale, an inspection revealed our roof needed replacement. We were referred to Remi Roofing (based in Utah), despite our home being in Nevada. We clearly communicated that the roof had to be completed by February 10 in order to close and avoid another mortgage payment.
For weeks, we requested written confirmation of scheduling and received none. On February 3 — one week before closing — we were informed that the project could not begin until the company obtained proper Nevada licensing. This was never disclosed earlier, despite repeated conversations about deadlines.
After licensing and permitting delays, the project was handled under Xperience Roofing. The roof was completed on February 15, after our required deadline.
During our final buyer inspection, we learned (through the inspector’s photos) that the roofers damaged our interior ceiling and knocked the vent off our water heater. We were never informed of this damage by the roofing companies.
The delays have resulted in additional mortgage payments and potential rate lock extension fees. While the phone representatives were polite, the overall experience was marked by lack of transparency, licensing issues, missed deadlines, and failure to disclose damage.
Based on our experience, we cannot recommend these companies to homeowners who need clear communication and reliable timelines — especially when a home sale is involved.

I would be very cautious about entering into an agreement with Sunrun. I had my panels installed in August 2025. They inspected the roof before the put the panels on and said everything was fine. Five months later my roof developed a significant leak. Sunrun inspected the leak and said it was due to the prior status of the roof and denied coverage through their 'no leak' warranty.
It doesnt end there....in order for the roofer I hired to fix my roof, the panels needed to come off. Sun run charged my 100 dollars per panel to remove them and 100 dollars per panel to reinstall them, so 5000 dollars on top of what I paid to fix the roof. I wish they wd have told me there was an issue before they put the panels on and i wd have fixed it.
Solar is not a bad idea in LV, but I wd get my own independent inspection first and fix any issues yourself before installing solar with Sunrun.

I can’t say enough positive things about my experience. I want to start with my acct mgr, Jackie L. Honestly, the best customer service I’ve received in a long time. I am in the middle of an out if state move, and she handled literally everything from signing me up, scheduling the install, and HOA process. I barely had to do anything. It was the most seamless process. The panels are not visible, and from the pictures they look great. Not bulky. Sleek and modern. I couldn’t be happier. If you’re looking to get solar, do it thru Sun Run and ask for Jackie. I have been misinformed prior to this. There is no equipment purchase, rental fees etc, just a flat rate depending on your household electric consumption. Big thanks to the Sun Run install and scheduling team. The BIGGEST thanks to Jackie!

I’ve heard bad reviews from other customers but from my own personal experience with Sunrun , everything seems to be great..!! System is running smoothly and efficiently.
