The solar panels do not work well and after three years I have physical issues with my system and it costs 250 dollars to get a technician to come out. It is not free electric even if they are paid off. The system simply does not last. You will have maintenance issues and it will be costly to repair. I am trying to get them removed. Ion does not remove them once they are installed. I would get other options before you decide on this company. My system broke 4 years in and now it’s costing me out of pocket to fix not to mention they did not install enough to cover my usage so I’ve had an 100 to 200 dollar electric bill every month.

Horrible company! Blatantly lied to us multiple times to make the sale, now we're out a lot of money! When we first had the system installed (in 2024), the numbers that we were shown made it seem like after a year, we would basically have no electric bill. This was absolutely not true. We still continue to pay an average of about $120ish per month for our grid use (and we don't really use a ton of power). In addition to the monthly costs that are more than we expected, we were told multiple time by the sales guy that we would receive back $10,000 on our taxes that if we put towards the panels, we would keep our initial monthly price. What they don't tell you is that this tax credit is non-refundable, meaning that unless you're paying Uncle Sam a ton in federal taxes, and especially if you have dependents, you won't ever see a dime of or benefit from that credit. So now, we're set to have our monthly costs go up something like an additional $75 per month because we don't have the $10,000 we were told we were going to get to put back on it. If I could have the panels removed and get refunded for them, I would tomorrow! They are barely saving us anything, and we won't see any real benefit from them for 30 years, unless we can pay them off sooner. I wish I had thrown the sales guy out and never bought the panels! STAY FAR AWAY!

We got our Solar Panels back in 2018. They based how many panels we were going to get on our next door neighbor because we had not been living here for at least 3 months and her house is close in sq ft to ours. Well our neighbor is 1 80 yr old lady vs 4 living in our house so we were not able to get the amount of panels we actually needed. That’s that………another thing, our panels had been producing 30+kWh in sunny days, now it’s producing half and we called the company they charged us $250 to come and check and told us everything is working properly. One of their guys has a solar panel cleaning service company and told us they might need some cleaning. My husband got him to clean them and he told us to give it a week for them to produce more kWh….they actually did. Then they got dusty again and my husband decided to clean them himself and they kept producing the same 13 -15 kWh. Either they have the power to make them produce more or something because what a coincidence that they produced more when the ION person cleaned them and not when my husband cleaned them. Not happy at all with these panels anymore. Spent a lot of money on them to lower my bill and now they don’t produce the same.

Update March 2025. You need to determine if you make enough income to have any tax benefit. I got only 1/3 of what the salesman told me I would get because I do not make enough. Do your homework before going with ION! If you are thinking about solar consider going with a CPS approved vender, or check out Vivint. We purchased our solar March 2024 and I am very disappointed on multiple levels with my purchase, I blame myself for not being better informed. In my now more informed opinion there are better deals than ION. The whole process went smoothly and each department handled each aspect of the installation very professionally. I do appreciate how good the panels look and how they took care to blend the wire conduits on the house.

Frequently Asked Questions

The team serves Kyle, Austin, and nearby Central Texas communities. If you’re outside this core area, contact the office to confirm availability and scheduling.

A typical project includes a site assessment, custom system design, permitting, installation, and utility interconnection steps. The company also helps set up monitoring so you can track system performance.

Timelines vary by roof complexity and permitting. Many projects move from contract to activation over several weeks once permits and utility approvals are secured.

Most homes still have a utility bill for grid access or additional usage, even with solar. Actual results depend on system size, your consumption, roof orientation, shading, and utility policies.

Start by checking your monitoring app and documenting any alerts or dips in output. Then contact the support line to review troubleshooting steps and discuss next options.
