Update: So apparently they're now going out of business and didn't have the decency to contact existing customers or even post anything on their website to let them know we're up a creek for warranty service. We were in the middle of trying to get our second failed microinverter in a year replaced and suddenly I just couldn't get anyone to return my calls or answer my emails. I ended up driving to their office and learning from the building manager that they had a meeting a couple weeks ago to tell everyone they were fired and that they're closing up shop. I tried really hard to pick a solar company that wouldn't fold a year or two down the road and bail on their warranty agreement. I chose poorly. Shame on them for not even having the decency to communicate what's going on.

Original review (they were really good until they just disappeared):

We contracted with Mynt Solar to install an 8 kW rooftop solar system and had a great experience with them start to finish. Their sales team was very informative and professional. They have flat pricing, which makes things very straightforward, and they took the time to answer all my questions and make sure we were making the right investment for our needs. I also really appreciated that they were very objective and weren't trying to sway us into using them by badmouthing their competitors - I can't say as much for a few of their competitors... Another thing that pushed us over the edge to use Mynt Solar was their assurance that they could get the system installed relatively quickly to ensure that we could take advantage of the tax credit on this year's filing. They absolutely delivered on that. After we'd signed the contract, we were assigned a project manager who did an excellent job of keeping everything moving along and keeping us apprised of the status. The only significant amount of time spent waiting during the process was always while waiting for the city/power company to come out and do their next step. Mynt made sure to submit all the applications very promptly and to have the installation scheduled such that everything just moved along as quickly as the approvals came through. Only time will tell, but given their business model, I'm also very optimistic that they'll be around for a good long time to provide their advertised warranty service should we ever need it. I can wholeheartedly recommend them if you are looking for solar or roofing services.

I have had my solar panel system from Mynt for 1 year. My rating with Mynt Solar is based on the inefficient system they installed and the lack of customer support. I’m not one to give bad reviews but my experience with Mynt has not been a good one. If the system worked like the one on my previous house I wouldn’t need to contact customer service or worry that I’m getting what I paid for. My experience has been:
1-good hardware but poor judgment on the system my house needs.
2-installation dates that weren’t met.
3-Slight damage done to my house (this was fixed but after months of nagging)
4-I was promised that Mynt would be monitoring the efficiency of my system and that I would be notified and I haven’t been.
5-customer service keeps passing me around and they want me to communicate through email instead of just calling me.

If I were to do it all over I would not choose Mynt Solar. I wanted to give my system a year to prove itself through all the seasons before I left a review. I will give Mynt the opportunity to fix their mistakes but I have not received what I was promised for the 1st year.

These guys are amazing, finally found a solar company that cares more about kilowatts than interest rates. There are many solar companies that seem to be more interested in getting you to sign loan documents than actually installing solar panels, not Mynt. They are structured very differently than other solar companies. As opposed to sending out salespeople operating on commissions, they have a dedicated sales team that is paid, like a normal job. The result is no pressure, extreme flexibility and transparent processes. The installers and electricians were very professional, kind and knowledgeable. They kept me updated every step of the way without being intrusive while I was working from home. Clearly putting the customer first. Every item we purchased was discussed in detail and any minor item overlooked was quickly rectified. You really know what you're getting with them. After they finished the job, the only evidence they had been there was the system itself.

We considered solar for several years before finally deciding to go ahead with the project. We did our homework and had five different companies bid on the project. We had three bid higher and one bid lower. Several of the companies tried to upsell us (e.g., put in more panels than were necessary to cover our energy use, push installation of batteries). A couple tried to sell us inferior solar panels. Only one company listened to what we wanted and then showed us the specs on the equipment and designed the system to our needs. They walked with us through the whole process from design to permitting and installation of our new meter. We were well taken care of and very happy with our choice. I even made several calls during the design process about adding in a generator and they put in a box with the extra space needed to install the needed breakers. My wife and I are very happy with the system. It's been in place since July of 2022 and has worked flawlessly generating the amount of power that was projected.

If you live in California, your experience will not equal the experience of the Utah people. I was super excited to finally get solar for my house and after reading so many great reviews and finding out they have a SoCal location. I knew who I wanted to go with and even blew off some friends who currently work in solar. I felt like with a big purchase like this. You want someone who keeps you up to date communicates and even after the sale will still continue to communicate with you. Sadly this is not the case The moment the financing was done. I haven't heard from my rep since we got that taken care of and he submitted my application to Edison.

Don't get me wrong, The contractors they use to get the job done or top-notch and they completed my house in a day. The electrician in planner who helped with the inspections was also a great guy but the sales rep was the only problem. I had to constantly call him for updates when he wouldn't call me. I also had to follow up even though I told him I want follow-ups from him. He would always give me updates at the last minute, for example, telling me the solar is being installed the next week when I wasn't even prepared for it and he also didn't help me through the process of getting it done through the HOA. The inspections were also an issue mainly because my city is a pain but again the city would show up without warning. I'd call him and he tell me they made a mistake instead of him calling me telling me they made a mistake. Overall I was happy about the experience with the staff and the contractors, but I probably won't do business again unless they get a different sales guy or I work with the people in Utah. I don't need a sales guy here. I just need someone to communicate with me every step of the way because I still don't know if my application was approved by Edison yet.

Oh And in case anyone asked I did text him saying is there an update on my application. It's been two days and no response but the moment he needs something like signing off on all the finance paperwork so he can get paid. He's quick to the draw and easy on the call.
