These people are skilled and pleasant to work with. Price? Never got alternative bids. They seem most agile, working on the roof, getting the racks set, the panels, the wiring, the inspection. They taught that I should Xcel as a huge battery. Sunny months, electrons get stored, winter stored electrons get used. I suspect there are other solar guys that are also good. But Flatiron gets a good score in my book.
I had a great experience working with Bob this past week-end. He is helpful, knowledgeable and just a nice guy! I was having an issue with my solar panel installation and was frustrated that my installer's "technical support" was not the least bit technical and had no idea how to help me trouble shoot my system. She told my she would return my call after consulting with her team and never did. I also contacted the inverter manufacturer but was told I must go thru the installer. Arghh. So, I finally reached out to a couple of solar panel installers in Boulder county and Bob called me back within 24 hrs. He also came by that same day, figured out the problem, explained to me how to trouble shoot it next time AND did not let me give him a penny for his work. It was quite refreshing after the frustration I'd been thru. Bob will be my 'go to' guy from now on!
We had a 34-year old domestic solar hot water system on our roof, using Bray oil as the heat conduit. Even though this is an old legacy system, Flatiron Solar knew exactly what they were dealing with when they came to inspect it. Flatiron had the expertise to remove the solar panels from the roof, 120-gallon hot water storage tank, all the piping through the house and the associated controls from the utility room. All the work was done efficiently and cleanly in less than one day. Thank you, Bob.
We have a 33-year-old drain-back, hot water solar system that needs maintenance from time to time. The last two times that we needed maintenance, we used Flatiron Solar, and they did a very good job. They even went beyond the call of duty on the most recent repair where they replaced a leaky pipe. Later another leak showed up nearby, and they came back and fixed that leak for no charge even though it was not clear that it was related to the first leak. So they definitely stand behind their work.
Flatiron Solar installed a 3kw grid tie system last August. I threw them a bit of a curve in that I had my own solar panels, of a non-standard nature. Bob and his staff researched these panels and designed a system to install them without any issues. Flagstaff performed all functions of design, permitting, scheduling, and install extremely well. I have had no issues with my system!
