You guys- I’m finally off the hooch! After waiting for YEARS for solar power to be affordable to average families, and viable for ours, I found Zen Solar- and I’ve never been happier.

Due to the advent of substantial tax benefits and net-metering, I knew it was time to get serious about my dream of going solar. It’s one small thing my family can do for the planet, and now there’s financing available for the cost of our previous electric bill- nothing to lose there. Time to make this change, do my part, and feel good about it. So I began researching in earnest.

I got quotes from four different companies, and while their products made sense to me, I soon came to feel worked over, manipulated, and just tired. The same-old tired sales pitches and typical sales-guy “they make me say these things” vibe just make all of my trust alarms go off. We’ve been extremely disappointed by the WORK of door-to-door marketing home improvement businesses before, and I was not up for another big investment with deep buyer’s remorse.

So next we- very seriously- discussed self-installation. There were many variables and areas where we could make the wrong call, but at least if our Solar-to-Be was going to be less than perfect, it would be our own fault. And way cheaper.

And then an ad popped up for Zen Solar.

From the beginning, it felt different.

Their website has so much quality content that you can educate yourself. It’s as if the company trusts that their clients… aren’t stupid. And you can ask for them to reach out to you- not like the websites where you type in your info to get a quote and suddenly your phone never stops ringing.
Once I did get in touch with Zen, it only got better.

The team communicated with me via email throughout the entire project, which meant I could focus on the details when I actually had the time to set aside. I developed a personal relationship with Joe, my main point of contact (and the owner!)- not the least because he would make little videos for me with regular updates. As an introvert, I fully expected for these videos to be a burden- something I didn’t feel I had the time for, or something that would be a turnoff like they were trying too hard. I was delighted to learn that instead, I felt well-cared for.

The entire costing process wasn’t scary either. You know those types that give you a rough estimate, but then after working with them for HOURS, you find out it’s only the base price and the actual cost is so far out of your budget you feel sick but trapped into signing? Zen handled their estimate and pricing process so completely differently that I don’t even remember how they approached it. The price was the price, it was fair and reasonable, and I was easily confident when my quote and loan docs came through for signatures. Clean and simple.

Just one final detail I think is really important to note: I put Zen Solar THROUGH THE RINGER. I am the kind of person who needs to feel like I understand every single facet of what is going on, and I work in construction (so I brought a certain amount of unbearable I-know-what-I’m-talking-about to the table). I asked hundreds of questions. I was borderline insufferable. But Joe never once flinched, and it was as if his only concern in the world was to make me feel at ease, and completely informed. Zen hard-earned every single iota of my complete satisfaction.

Joe and his team will go very far as they disrupt the awful salesman trope in the home improvement industry. Every step in this months-long process was PAINLESS, with Zen as my ever-patient guide and champion. I have only buyer’s joy, and it feels amazing to be able to support a startup with a few simple words of gratitude.
