In a time when solar credits have dried up and residential solar companies have plenty of capacity, don’t choose Tru North. We had them install solar for our new home construction. It turned out that we were away when they did the install. When they came the house was framed but not sheetrocked - perfect for Tru North to run their wires internally. Despite this, their installers took the “easy” route and decided to run external conduit across the roof and down the outside walls of the house.Unfortunate, but something that could be remedied. When we arrived home and found that they had done this I contacted Tru North so that they could fix the situation by running the wires internally before construction was complete. They asked me to send pictures. I did that. They told me that their operations team would be in touch. They never called. I called again and again. Each time I was told that someone would be calling me back in short order. Finally, after months of this game, I let my contact at Tru North know that we could not wait any longer as construction was proceeding and we needed to finish the house. Still polite, even congenial, but still no call.Maybe there is something that I don’t understand and they had no choice but to run the conduits externally down the side of our new home. But no one has bothered to explain that to me. Super unprofessional conduct.Find another company to do your solar. Tru North clearly doesn’t care . . .
From start to finish the process went incredibly smooth. They recommended a great roofing company that worked out well for us also. Solar install itself went smooth - we passed inspection with no issues. All the staff seemed knowledgeable, work went quickly, and we were updated regularly. They were also friendly (including learning our dogs names, putting pet friendly salt down outside) and kept the house/work areas clean. Overall it was an easy process and we would recommend TruNorth Solar in a heart beat. Our system is projected to get around 105% of our energy needs based on their research and the idea of getting a check from the energy company instead of a bill delights me.
TruNorth was an absolute perfect experience, start to finish. I could not recommend more. They helped make sure the system was designed well, and that we understood. We even wanted to make a change after they had started work, and they were perfectly happy to do so. They followed up even after everything had been installed and paid for and working for awhile to make sure I was still happy with it. I love my solar system, and have for about three years already. Still very happy, and glad we did it!
We wanted to install roof-top solar panels on our home and chose TruNorth Solar for the project. The entire TruNorth team exceeded our expectations! They did a thorough assessment of the best placement of the panels and how many panels were needed to provide 100% of our current usage. They also came up with a solution to how best to tie-in with our existing electrical panel, without any disruptive trenching.Installation went very smoothly, and their follow-up expertise is much appreciated.More recently we contracted with TruNorth to come back and install our EV charger. We highly recommend TruNorth Solar!
TruNorth Solar installed my solar a couple years back now. I'm writing today as my home is still NET ZERO carbon use with my electricity. I've also saved thousands of dollars so far since I have no electric bill most of the year!NOTE: That's with 5 people in the home btw!Another key factor in my recommendation was how TruNorth treated me post my installation. TruNorth sent a crew out months later to remount ALL my panels to optimize the drainage into my new gutter system. I'm sure they didn't make much money on my system, but they really care about taking care of the customer over the long haul...Steve Borden
