I had a solar system installed on my roof by SBS Solar in November 2025. I can't say enough positive things about SBS Solar. From the competive bid to the installation, clean-up and instructions for use of the system they were A+++. Anyone doing research on the solar installation process will find that from the time one gets a quote for solar installation to getting permission to operate from the electric company, it takes 6 to 9 months ( in some states). I got on their schedule before they even received my deposit. The system was installed and up and running with permission from the utility company, in less than A WEEK! They delivered what they promised, WHEN they promised (which is tricky to do in Montana in November due to the weather) and communicated every step of the way. This is how a business should be run: great customer service, communication, value, and timeliness.
We have been interested in installing solar on our house for YEARS. It wasn't until a weird sale-sy door-to-door company came knocking at our door and roped us into their spiel that we started realizing that we are just wasting time and money by not installing solar panels.So we called a few more local companies to see what their bids were and compare. SBS Solar was comparable to the other local companies but what really stood out for us and ultimately what led to our decision was their people. They made us feel comfortable, confident, and informed on what the entire process would look like and when we had questions they answered them clear and honestly and it never felt like it was a pitch or what we wanted to hear, to get the sale.Right from the start of the process, they were in communication with our bank for the solar loan and managed the process seamlessly, they managed all the paperwork with NorthWestern Energy. They did it all AND kept us informed of how the process would work and what to expect. There were no surprises.Except there was a surprise - on our end! When we ran into a snag getting access to our roof they problem solved and came up with a solution with us. They were amazing throughout the entire process. If we could do it all over again - we wouldn't change a thing.Highly recommend!
SBS Solar was responsive to my questions, inquiries. I primarily worked with Forrest and he was excellent to work with. My solar panels were energized on Thursday, October 20th. The only issue was the tentative installation date. It was originally set for mid-October, then potentially moved to early November/late October, but ultimately the installation date was on October 10th. SBS Solar was good about contacting me and working with me on the date.
An amazingly well-organized company with demonstrated skill in evaluating the need, developing a plan, putting together installation approach, and bringing together a whole team of worker and professionals to oversee all aspects of the job, with close engagement of the client throughout. This experience was capped by a personal on site follow-up to review the system with the client, provide guidance on the working of the battery backup, and other technical issues. Fantastic experience...hope to hire them when I install solar system on a second residence being planned.
Our experience working with SBS Solar was first class from start to finish! Josh explained the process very clearly as we were seeking quotes, and was extremely patient as we delayed because we needed to update our roof first. Suzie kept us organized working with the utility company and moving through the steps. EVERY step was clearly communicated and spot on. The crew installing the panels were professional, efficient, and worked their tails off! Installation was on the projected time frame and we are off and running. Thank you, thank you for a very positive experience. HIGHLY recommend.
