I had a fantastic experience working with Todd from NC Solar Electric. Spurred by the ending of the tax credits, I reached out to Todd while I was researching inverters and racking. He took so much time to advise me on what I would need that I was very happy to order my Hoymiles HYS inverter and IntegraRack IR-40 racking. Todd went the extra mile to make sure the racking arrived by my install date. After everything arrived, he's been super responsive to my setup questions. I can tell he really takes pleasure in helping people get going on their solar setups. I found Todd and NC Solar Electric after getting frustrated with solar quotes that seemed so expensive I’d never be able to break even. After a few design proposals and questions, Todd gave me a quote for a 21 kW grid tie system that was quite literally less than half the cost of the other quotes I was getting. Of course this was a DIY system so I knew I had quite a project ahead of me. After a few more questions, I felt confident enough in myself and Todd’s expertise to go forward with the project.I paid Todd’s fee July 19th and as of November 18, I have my permission to operate from Duke Energy. It did take several months but I can say I did it myself and feel confident with the quality of the install. Throughout the process, it’s fair to say I asked Todd 100+ questions from the mundane to the somewhat complex and each time he answered it thoroughly and promptly. He has been a pleasure to work with and his small fee to provide a design, a list of materials, and invaluable expertise is something I’d happily do again. The plans were excellent and he made sure every part I needed was onsite to make my project a success. No running to Home Depot 3 times a day!I was also very happy to help out a small business owner in NC. Although his business is small, his knowledge and experience is not. His ability to source excellent deals on inverters is also quite impressive. I would expect NC Solar Electric to continue to grow very quickly with Todd providing the service that he does. I know I’ve recommended him to everyone asking about my solar project and I wouldn’t hesitate to hire him again if I ever had a need.
