Public reviews reference mixed experiences, with several noting difficulty reaching support or long hold times. Some customers mention delays in scheduling service visits or resolving equipment issues. There are also comments about unwanted sales or cold calls. Feedback on system performance is less consistent, with most themes centered on communication and responsiveness.

Spam calls. We hate you.

Half of my solar stopped working in August 2021 and tesla started texting me ,but would not come out to fix it. They said i needed to talk to tech support before they would come out.[that meet sitting on the phone for 1-2 hrs waiting for someone to answer]. When they came out one of the inverters was burnt up and all the panels needed to be changed. That has been 2 months and nothing yet, I was told that i needed the same inverter that was installed originally and that they cannot install a tesla that they have in stock. They answered the phone fast when i called sales department, but they take there sweet time fixing what has been installed already. Tesla own Solar City so why would matter what inverter they installed they own the solar unit ?

Got a cold call from SolarCity today. The sales guy was rude and belligerent. No wonder this company is hurting for customers. they need sales folks who actually care about their customers, and not just yell at them and call them names.

Do your "due diligence" when purchasing a solar system. Like any other company Solarcity is a business. I can tell from personal experiences what happened during and after my purchase.

I would like to say first, that I was not wronged by Solarcity and that this reviews is to educate those interested in purchasing a solar system.

First things I'd say is that the best way and time to purchase a solar system from your home is when your purchasing a new home. Common sense speaking here, since you will have interest on one loan and not two. So for those of you who have an option to purchase one when getting a new home.... DO IT. Purchasing one from an external company will be a pain on you and your wallet.

I signed up for a quote with Solarcity through Home Depot. They have some type of deal where representatives can ask customers if they're interested in a system while shopping. I asked about the system and was set up with an appt for a quote at my home. Like all salesman the gentleman was very nice. Here are some of the ways they lure you into purchasing a system. (1) rebate : government rebates are issued for going green! DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON THIS. This is a tax rebate with special requirements. 3 yrs later and we are only receiving partial of our rebate. (2) Solarcity are not tax experts : when I called Solarcity for help on this matter they simply wiped their hands clean and didn't even bother to direct me in the right direction. I called the gentelman who sold us the system, not only did he not help but he was rude when confronted about his knowledge about rebates but using it in his sales pitch. (3) DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Yes you're paying little to nothing on your electric bill, BUT your solar system is about $90 - $200 a month. Not to mention some wacky payment system where you have to save a little extra every month to pay the electric company (SCE, now called Tesla?) to keep a negative balance and to prevent an annual bill that hits you at $300 - $400. It's been 3 years and I still don't understand this, despite calling SCE 3-4 times. Btw none of this was mention when purchasing the system.

Once again. Solar is a great thing. Solar city is not a bad business and commend them on helping the world go green with energy, but like many, I hate feeling like an idiot after purchasing something, especially when it's $36,000. Lesson here. DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON SOLAR BEFORE PURCHASING.
