I live off grid on a 50 acre ranch near Yosemite and am entirely dependent on my solar system. Everything was working perfectly, but after 5 days of snow on my roof panels and the recent freezing temperatures, my system crashed completely. I left an early before business hours phone message and was shocked when Colby called me a few minutes later. I was completely dumbfounded about what I was going to do. Next thing I knew, someone was here and the matter was solved in about an hour. I consider myself a “Jack of all trades”, but electricity has always scared me because there is so much about I don’t understand. Tonight I am thanking my lucky stars for APG Solar and their incredible team. I feel like the luckiest man alive and will only consider APG for my future solar projects.

APG completed my solar system just before Christmas 2024. My very first complete billing cycle from PG&E my bill was less then $100. My average bill was around $750 throughout the entire year on average, with my summertime bills well over $1,000, even reaching $1,200-$1,300. I asked Coleby to make me a system where my electricity bill was $0 a month without batteries! He came back with 2 plans and explained them very clearly. PG&E forces you to be on time on day usage plan once your on solar, with the hours I consume electricity, there’s no amount of solar panels that would leave me with a $0 bill at a reasonable cost. Even if you make every bit of electricity you consume, the power you take, you get charged a fee for taking it even if you send it all back. You will never have a $0 bill. The second plan he offered, solar with batteries, obviously more costly, and a longer pay back period. But with this plan you could have a nearly $0 monthly electricity bill. Let me tell you it’s been 5 months, I did have a small bill in January, but not only has my electricity bill been $0, I’ve actually been able to make a small amount of money each month! Now unfortunately PG&E doesn’t allow you to apply electric credit to the gas portion of your bill, but any extra you make goes towards your 12 month cycle true up bill. You make extra during the summer, your able to bank it for 12 months, and use that in the winter months if your not making quite enough solar. The solar app is fantastic and I personally watch mine like a hawk. We’ve adjusted when we do Landry to the middle of the day. And I work nights so I also charge my car during the day. Other then Landry, if your smart and pay attention, it’s not to difficult to get your bill down to $0. If it’s a cloudy day today and a sunny day tomorrow. Do Landry tomorrow. If it’s raining for a week, can’t do anything about that. But on a months average it’s never hurt me on my bill. The install was done very fast and inspected and permitted quickly. I happen to be home everyday and watched the entire install step by step, and they were very professional and polite. I also had a new main breaker panel put in by my request and a sub-panel put in my garage for my electric car charger. Coleby worked with my on the price and offered a reasonable payment plan that made it easier to afford the cost with how I was paying for it. Besides the solar and batteries, I also have a new roof put on by specialty roofing. Also a locate company. They did an amazing job, went above and beyond, did a large amount of roof repair and even more then what was originally expected, also such a great experience with them, I also happened to be home to watch them do the entire roof with a large amount of roof repairs from start to finish included tear down and completion inspections by the city in only 2 days! These guys did amazing quality work and I’m glad they work with APG solar!
