Recent reviews frequently mention helpful explanations of complex utility and rate topics and courteous, professional interactions during the sales and installation phases. Several customers highlight strong guidance from individual reps. A smaller number of reviews describe frustration with post-installation activation timelines and communication after the sale. Overall sentiment is positive but notes the importance of clear follow-through during system startup.
Brian made it really easy for me to make the decision to move to solar - a great bargain for things we needed such as an electrical panel upgrade, Tesla batteries for the energy from the solar panels to store in, security system, etc. Brian and his team (special shout out to Jamie as well) were very considerate and meticulous. I'm grateful I got to explore upgrading my house through them. I only give a 4/5 because I thought the package deal included a way to charge an EV, but I'm sure that was likely a mistake on my part. Regardless, Brian was helpful in many ways
Do not do business with Sunrun. The sales and physical installation may go well and make you feel comfortable. But once the equipment is on your house, it is extremely frustrating to get them to support the actual start up and activation. The sales engineer said he would be working with us from the signing of the agreement until the system was up and running. He disappeared in about a week in to the project and no longer returned phone calls or text messages.Sunrun installed our system and it took just one day back in February. Sunrun worked directly with our HOA to push through the approval process with them faster than they would normally do it. So Sunrun works with you and your HOA to get the hardware installed quickly and get you on the hook. But once that is done they operate in a deliberately slow manner. It is now the end of May and it is still not producing power to save on our electricity bill. At first there was a lengthy delay because Sunrun was waiting for the utility company to issue the permission to operate (PTO) order. We were told this was forthcoming in a few days several times. Then about three months later we got the PTO, the next day the Sunrun start up engineer texted, they only text no phone calls where you can talk to someone in person, to say that there was a problem with the Tesla batteries communication to the grid. Why this was not identified and resolved during the several months of waiting is baffling. The Sunrun engineer said they would schedule a tech (Telsa or Sunrun, I don't know) to come out and determine what the problem is and correct it. Each time you contact their "customer experience" call center you have to start the conversation with them all over again. Two weeks passed without any tech, no text message, no phone call, no communication with Sunrun at all. The after installation service and communication is bad. I just called today 27AMay and they still do not know when they can send out a tech to check on the batteries.Check other providers and get detailed explanations from them on timelines and how they are going to resolve failures first. For the amount of installations that Sunrun claims to have installed they should have this process better detailed by now. They do not.
Torrey Gambill at Sunrun was truly helpful and very professional every step of the way! I highly recommend him and the great service I received at Sunrun!
The electrical energy situation in the Southern California desert is incredibly complex. Trying to understand all the regulations, economics and power alternatives requires an immense amount of research and time. I was fortunate that Torrey from Sunrun was able to take the time to explain much of the complexity to me.With an expectation that the outlook of for the future will be somewhat predictable;thanks to Torrey and his support team at Sunrun and Tesla I believe I will be in a favorable position for the future.
My experience with Sunrun has been exceptional. Two thumbs up!!!
