Pricing clarity and warranty expectations are also recurring topics in several comments.
Do not waste your time with this company. We have Been dealing with this company for less than a year and it has been nothing but a nightmare. Equipment does not work properly and now our lights continue to flicker when they are on. Areas of the home that are not supposed to lose power lose power. Customer service sucks. They only tell you what you want to hear so they are able to get off the phone with you. Most importantly, we have not noticed a change in our Xcel Bill. So now we are not only just paying Xcel, but we are also now paying our Sunrun monthly bill. Stay away from Sunrun
Worst solar company ever! I've purchased multiple solar systems and they are the absolute worst. I had to use them with the purchase of a new home. They were way more expensive than others. The products they used were fine but their service is horrible. I received an email that my system was underperforming. They found my system wasn't communicating. I called their service department and they told me I didn't have a warranty. I had to go through three tiers of customer service and send them my contract for them to agree that I have a warranty. They said I had to sign an agreement to pay in the case that it was caused by physical damage but hat otherwise it would be covered by warranty. They got it communicating. Sent me a bill for $580 and refuse to acknowledge my warranty. I'm disputing it with BBB. They have multiple class action law suites against them. Stay away from them if you want someone that stands by their work.
My experience has been one out of nightmares!!! My solar panels were originally purchased in 2017 from vivant solar who I loved and never had an issue with but unfortunately they sold our loan to sunrun who has been deplorable and nothing short of a fraudulent company. In June and July our electricity bill was higher than it should of been but we didnt think anything of it since it was summer and we thought we needed extra cooling. We even called Sunrun in June to ask if everything was ok because our app was saying no kwh was being recorded. We were told it was our app so we deleted and reinstalled but still nothing and thought it was a glitch. We call back in August and they then tell us that our solar panels haven't been working for 4 months. We were never notified. They told us that they don't monitor the service. I was told the contract was the same as the one I signed with vivant so then referred to the part that says that they monitor the system. They said they meant monitor by like service if we reach out. May I add this is not the definition of monitor in any way shape or form and you cannot bend the words definition to fit your need. We then scheduled a service after having to pay them an astronomical fee to get a technician out. The day of the service comes and no technician ever came out, no call, email or text to update us, just a complete no show. We then had to wait for the next available date for someone to come out. That one finally came out said everything was fixed. We waited 2 days we still weren't getting energy so we call back. They then say we have to wait a month to have the next available appointment for someone to come out. We wait the month, we are told someone has to go to our roof to replace some nodes that have gone bad and should take about 4 hours the technician never went to the roof and was only here for half an hour. We have now paid both our loan to sunrun and our electricity bill for 7 months. Every time we call every representative is either unprofessional, not willing to help and we get transferred 50 million times and then conveniently disconnected. When we ask to speak to supervisors they say they are the supervisor and there is no boss or person above them that can assist. I have never felt so taken advantage of by a company in my entire life and if I could I would have them sell my loan to another company. If anyone is considering sunrun, please do run.
Sunrun damaged my brand-new roof and is refusing to pay for proper repairs. After a hailstorm, I had my entire roof replaced by insurance. When Sunrun reinstalled their panels, they tore up new shingles, compromised waterproofing, and caused visible damage—confirmed by my original roofer. Their crew's negligence voided warranties and degraded structural integrity.I provided photos, a formal roofer statement rejecting spot repairs, and a $22,100 quote to replace the affected sections. Sunrun has stalled for weeks and now refuses to pay unless I get a written denial from my insurance company—which is not standard practice.Pictures included to demonstrate the lack of care and professionalism of their work. Garbage was left on the roof after the job and they also dented a vent (in addition to the significant other damage).Additionally, during the roof replacement, the team informed me that the original solar panel mounting brackets were poorly installed, resulting in water leakage (but thankfully no deeper damage).I’ve filed with the Illinois Attorney General and initiated arbitration through JAMS. Avoid this company unless you’re prepared to fight to get your property restored.----------------------------------------------Edit (1+ month later): The situation has not improved. In my experience, Sunrun has continued to delay and has not responded in good faith. The matter is now proceeding solely through arbitration. This experience has been so uniquely frustrating that I’ve decided I will buy out the remaining contract after my roof is repaired and end my relationship with Sunrun permanently. I refuse to live with the anxiety of wondering, every time a storm rolls through, whether I’ll have to go through this nightmare all over again. To put it plainly: I believe it is better to spend $10,000+ out of pocket than ever deal with this company again. That’s how poor this experience has been for me.There is a reason the Connecticut Attorney General filed a lawsuit against Sunrun, alleging deceptive sales practices such as forged signatures, unpermitted installations, and non-functional systems. Based on everything I’ve read, my experience is not an outlier.
I leave a message of gratitude to Hass. First and foremost Thank you for your service. I appreciate you taking into interest of my family and also in consideration of my spouse who BTW absolutely adores you and your kindness. Keep up the good work.
