Solar.com did an amazing job spec'ing out my system, finding installers, and getting everything completed by the crucial 12/31/2025 tax-credit deadline (despite me starting the process in late September). I absolutely could not have done this without them.Sam Wigness was the ideal liaison throughout the process (even though he's usually more on the marketing side than sales). He was always available with clear communication, helpful opinions, and a relaxed demeanor that made me feel comfortable. And the one time when I thought we might miss a deadline, he answered me promptly and helped to mobilize a response from the installer. I'm very grateful for Solar.com and Sam Wigness for helping me get my solar panels installed and running before 12/31, thanks.
NEGATIVE. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL. they guarantee their vendors are the best. But once they, both the vendor and pickmysolar/electrum get their money, everything disappears. This is just a third party middleman. I had trouble with the vendor's vendor coming to my home at random times. And my electric bill was still high. But electrum did not help at all with even talking to the vendor, MegaSolar, at the moment. They just said, our job is done. They had guarantee that their vendors were the best because of all the referrals, but I CAN guarantee, electrum or Megasolar are below par in customer service. It took several months for anyone to come out to my home after installation to discover that the programming had to be updated, which resulted in the high electric bills and electric consumption. It was a simple monitoring, which was suppose to be done from the solar company that was never done. I reached out to Electrum many times to let them know I was having trouble with their preferred/referred company, and all I got was silence.
The solar panel installation was just OK. But no one cautioned me about the time length to complete the whole project. Two guys were able to install the solar panels plus all the accessory equipment and connections in less than 4 hours. However, the time it took after my installer selection to sign-off by PG&E was closed to six months!!I selected the installer in June, 2022. I waited for weeks before the installer sent someone to take a detailed look of the house (before that every company just use Google Earth for the price estimate). I waited for some more weeks for the company to generate the engineering drawings which I approved the very next day. I waited a lot more weeks for the installation team that finished the work in less than 4 hours. Then I waited for months for the City inspection. Because the installers missed the grounding requirement, the City inspector has to come for the second time. After a few more days, PG&E gave the approval. That was in December, 2022.After the solar panel installation, another team came to my house after a few more weeks to connect the solar panels to my electrical panel. Because the team did not reset the electrical panel circuit breakers properly before leaving, later when I came home, half of the house was without power.
Joseph Hunt with Pick My Solar is awesome. He helped us work through an upgrade to a solar system that we ended up not upgrading and then after moving helped us install a system on our new home. The Pick My Solar team is very knowledgeable and efficient. They are quick to respond and even better, at the times I could manage. Their information intake, bidding platform and overall business model provides a reliable and trustworthy service to those interested in going solar. Pick My Solar is one of the best companies I've ever had the pleasure of working with.
Superior customer service. Ingenious business model. Generates competition amongst proven installers and allows homeowners to go solar with confidence that they are getting the best deal in their area.
