Reviews are mixed. Positive comments often mention clear communication during the sales and install process and straightforward explanations. Critical feedback cites delays from permitting to installation, unmet expectations around incentives, and frustration with sales promises or cancellation terms. Customers recommend verifying timelines, incentive eligibility, and contract details before signing.
Would absolutely recommend ION Solar! Very communicative, fast process. Everything was explained clearly and happened the way they said. We wanted to go with a reputable installer and very very glad we did!
Horrible experience all around. Would give zero stars if I could. We were told nothing but lies from the beginning. The whole process was unprofessional. My husband spend two hours discussing at length with the sales agent, was told that our solar would cover the cost of electricity and our bill from ComEd would be minimal. Our bill has not changed, and now we have to pay a solar price on top of it.We were informed that we would need a beam installed in our attic to support the weight of the panels. Multiple times we changed around our work schedules to accommodate, only for them to not show and not call to reschedule. On the day of installation, no beam was installed beforehand. I called the sales person and expressed my concerns and hesitancy and was told if I did not let them work I would be in breach of contract. Now the ceiling where the solar panels are located is cracked and separating. Not to mention the process started in July and due to numerous reschedules solely on their end, the panels were not installed until December, at the expense of holding off on the beam until a later date.Other family members I know have solar and with a bigger house they still pay less for their solar contract and even less to ComEd. I would not recommend this company at all. Nothing but lies to take all the money they can from you. Extremely unhappy with the company and the experience.
Just wondering what action I can take to protect myself.I had an lon Solar salesman come by (solicitor) and offer to give me an estimate for Solar panels. I went through with the project estimate and after getting all the details decided not to proceed. The system was more expensive and not as much capacity as expected. After telling lon that I was cancelling, I was told over the phone that I owed lon $1,500 to cancel. Ion has been harassing me daily since. lon said they did a site survey and all this other nonsense when In reality a guy went on the roof and gave me an estimate. I just got off the phone with Ion trying to get this predatory fee waived and lon just bullied and threatened me to get a bigger system to avoid the fee. Obviously I am going to the Better Business Bureau, but wondering what else I can do,Please don't do business with Ion Solar (headquartered out of Provo, Utah). Its been a nightmare ever since that guy came to my door
Update: It has been a year, and the free gift card and wine for signing up we still haven't received, but they say "you can get $ for each referral." We didnt even get the original reward in the first place ??. We never received a tax rebate for the state because we weren't eligible (it didn't even exist), but we did receive the federal one.We have been waiting since July to have the panels installed. Our permits were approved Oct 3 by the city, and we reached out to them. They said that they saw that they were approved and now we are waiting on scheduling. We had to reach out to them AGAIN to try to get them installed, and they said "we are waiting for a permit." You already said that it was good and we are waiting for scheduling. Door to door sales reps are great at selling the products, but ION doesn't deliver good service.Don't recommend based on having to beg them for information, even though they came to us and we didn't even want them in the first place. Will update the review if they actually install them this year, which I doubt.
Great company all round. They installed mine in Buffalo Grove within 2 months and all I had to do was sit down for 30 minutes. I would recommend at least seeing the savings and benefits for your home.
