Andrew Sherrard on Northwest Electric and Solar

We used NW Electric and Solar for 2 commercial installations at our self storage facilities in Kitsap County. They were very easy to work with, attentive, and great partners in explaining all of our options. Theo, Giancarlo and the rest of the team walked us through all the options, answered every question we had, did impeccable work during installation, and stayed on the project until it was approved by PSE. They were such great partners in this we are using them for our next set of solar panel installations. I highly recommend their services.

NWES was a preferred provider for the Tesla powerwall battery, so I went with them after reviewing multiple proposals from providers across the region. All in all the install was completed, but major hiccups happened along the way.

The communication up front was overall fine and what you'd expect and it appeared that most of their planning emails were templates. On the day of the install, the team promptly showed up and was very courteous and clean throughout the entire 2 days. They did a great job having everything ready to go and worked pretty efficiently throughout the process. However, that's where the positive stops.

On the final day of the install, Caleb (who was great btw), said "do you want the good news or the bad news?". The bad news was their Tesla inverter didn't work and they had to reorder another one. The result: a 6 week delay. The annoyance with the entire thing is they had no backup plan in case there was hardware failure and put total blame on Tesla for sending them a faulty device and PSE for taking weeks to schedule another disconnect. More frustrating, is NWES requires you to pay for the majority of everything up front so I ended up with a bunch of panels on my roof, a good looking a battery.....none of which worked.

Their PMs flat out aren't good. They are very robotic in their responses and on my multiple occasions I had inspectors calling me and stopping by without any notice provided by NWES. After asking the PM over and over again (even after switching PMs they still responded the same), they took no responsibility for the error and I ended up having to open my garage door remotely to have a stranger inspect the system.

For the amount of money paid and interruption during the install, this was a failure point. NWES should have backup plans in the event of hardware or installation failures and their individuals responsible for communicating with the customer need to be transparent about what's coming next. I'd still use them again, but beware challenges will exist no matter how much you plan in advance.

About a month ago, Northwest Electric and Solar installed a 13 kW solar panel system along with a Tesla Powerwall 3 in our house, and we have been very happy with the experience. Since we have a concrete tile roof, our options were limited—only two installers we found support this roof type. NW Solar had the higher quote, but we chose them because they are a Tesla Premier installer, which made access to the Powerwall 3 easy, and they offered a better warranty than the other installer.

Initially, there was a discrepancy between the original quote and the revised amount, which was a bit disappointing. However, after that, the communication and installation process went very smoothly. Rob, the electrician, and the three other installers arrived promptly at 7 AM on the first day and completed a flawless installation over four days. They handled all permitting and the net meter installation without any issues.

So far, the panels are performing perfectly, generating about 50% of our electricity consumption in November. The Powerwall 3 also kicked in instantly during a recent power outage, which was very reassuring.

Overall, our experience with NW Solar has been excellent. We highly recommend them to anyone looking to install solar panels and a battery backup system. I will update this review over the years as we continue to use their system.

The work crew was amazing- great guys and easy to talk to and ask questions. Materials are scarce, so make sure you have a clear timeline and if you have your own crews for any digging, make sure NWES has the right wire there to bury before your trenchers dig. My project manager never came on site- my main frustration. But again, when I took the time to press and get answers, they responded, but you should be ready to do your own oversight throughout the process. The cement team they sourced for me was also efficient and quick.

This company has provided several services for me, installing solar panels on my roof several years ago and then installing an EV charger today. In both instances, the work looks sharp and everything functions well. Their prices are competitive, they work quickly, and they’re great at answering questions and ensuring customers are informed and satisfied. I have recommended them to friends who has also worked with them, and I intended to work with them in the future as needs arise.
