I recently completed installation of Tesla solar panels and two Powerwalls at my home in San Diego, and overall I’m very satisfied with the system.The hardware performs exceptionally well. On sunny days, my panels generate ample power, with excess seamlessly charging the Powerwalls. The integrated app is intuitive and ties everything together beautifully—just like my Tesla vehicle experience. During a recent power outage, the Powerwalls kicked in instantly, keeping essential loads running without interruption. So far, we’ve seen noticeable reductions in our utility bills thanks to high self-consumption.Installation went smoothly. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently within a day, and left the site spotless. They explained the setup thoroughly and answered all my questions on the spot.Where things could improve is post-install support. While initial communication was good, any follow-up questions took longer than expected to resolve via the app/chat. Tesla solar service is the absolute worst. If you are considering their products, DON'T DO IT!We had solar installed on an asphalt shingle roof. During the first rainstorm afterwards, we discovered a lot of leaking water in our attached garage. Tesla refused responsibility, even when presented with multiple forms of documentation from the roofers who performed repairs. So that was an additional $13K lost due to Tesla's negligence.We are currently experiencing issues with our solar system, and Tesla is again refusing to assist for two reasons: we had the system reinstalled properly by another company (why would we ever trust them to reinstall properly?) and we would not allow their workers to put anchors through our shingle roof (because that likely caused the leaking originally!!!). So now we are out on warranty support for the products we purchased as well.Do yourself a favor and stay far away from Tesla solar products. At some point you will regret your decision.
Tesla Solar has the worst customer service hands down. Where do I start? Well let’s start with their chat bots. Yes chat bots! You never get to talk to real people and get one way messages from poorly designed AI robots. They have names like Seth, Chris, or Heidi. They don’t answer you back and nobody will ever call you. Everything goes through the Tesla app. Our order went in three times for solar and a battery wall. Trying to change from lease to purchase was an insurmountable task but third times a charm! Right? Nope! Lost the great 3.5% offer so they gave me 7% due to their lack of follow through. Moved forward anyway. Inspector comes says everything is great just need a roof cleaning, easy! $1400 later had it done in days. Then they drop off the equipment and setup an install date. On install date the team did not agree with the inspector and said we needed new roof paper, said the guy didn’t know what he was doing. They spent three hours on the phone with Tesla then said we’re going to have to cancel. No big deal, all the neighbors needed roofing paper as well and I’d prefer a good foundation under the solar in case any leaks popped up. A couple of bids and $13,000 later we had commercial roofing contractor complete the roof in 7 days. That was a week ago. I sent in the quote, photos, invoice and they keep asking for more (like I didn’t do the work?) Chat bot Seth needs more proof. Well I texted back to chat bot Seth that their customer service sucks and he can have the install team come out and see the roof themselves when they install the panels. Chat bot Seth can also reimburse me for the cleaning I didn’t need to perform because of their inept inspectors poor judgement. It’s a one way text with chat bot Seth so he never gets back to me. I asked him to call me, will they?
