REVISED: A representative reached out to me, expressing regret for the initial misunderstanding that occurred with their customer service. The company waived the diagnosis fee and informed me about the labor cost for installing the replacement solar screen. They also provided a timeline for installation. Within a few weeks, their technician, Dillon, arrived and installed the necessary part. Although I was initially disappointed, leading to a less than perfect review, I appreciate their efforts to rectify the situation and their commitment to customer satisfaction. Our solar unit, which we got last year, has been performing excellently. We did notice, however, that the LED screen became difficult to read, possibly due to sun exposure. We called to schedule a replacement appointment, as only the parts were covered under warranty, not the labor. Everything seemed fine until the representative informed me of a $284 diagnostic fee, on top of the labor charges. The service fee, unfortunately, wouldn't be deducted from the labor costs for the part installation. The warranty covers the part, but the cost still lands on the customer, amounting to roughly more than $500. When I questioned the high service fee, given that we already knew the screen needed replacement, I was told it was due to fuel costs and time. While this was initially disappointing, the company's subsequent actions to correct the situation showed their dedication to improving their service.
