We purchased Kolbe and Kolbe windows from Architectural Window Supply for a full house renovation in Monrovia Md. The order included casement windows with screens, three exterior doors, a four panel door unit for a three season room and a large four panel folding window unit for the kitchen. The sales rep at Architectural Windows recommended the Kolbe screens for the large window and four panel door unit. The screen unit for the kitchen window was installed more than a year ago and still doesn’t work properly, light winds are sufficient to pop the screen out of the frame allowing insects to come in. We contacted Architectural Windows 5/2024 about the problem and they said they had not had any issues with the screen, nevertheless the manufacturer when contacted about the problem was able to provide a repair kit to fix. We are still waiting for the installer to complete the job. In addition to issues with the kitchen window screen, the door screens provided by Kolbe and Kolbe have been a nightmare. We are currently waiting on the fourth replacement screen door, as the previous provided doors were the wrong size (two times) or hinged on the wrong side. Despite a site visit by the Kolbe and Kolbe regional sales rep, the sales rep from Architectural Windows Supply and the installer we still don’t have screens on our doors or the kitchen. The screen for the four panel has not been installed as well and we are concerned that we will have the same problems with it as we are having with the kitchen window screen. I tried to return the product to Architectural Window Supply and they said they could not provide a refund as it is a custom made product. If you are considering buying Kolbe and Kolbe windows and doors for your project be aware of the poor quality of the screens. This is very frustrating for us.
Here is a picture of the kitchen window screen pushed out of the frame…
The windows and doors are good quality but the issues with the screens are disappointing….

Greg at architectural Windows and their whole team were amazing. At first I hesitated to work with a small private company and thought I could go with one of those big box stores, but I’m so glad I went with Greg.

First of all, I believe their prices were comparable (or better) and most importantly they gave us amazing service and stayed with us for many months afterwards, if any questions or concerns arose.

In one case, the factory had made a mistake in failing to glue a part that looked like it would require replacing all of the windows, but Greg himself came out and created a fix which has worked well so far. There were other ways they followed up with us outside the expected home warranty period as well with personalized service that solved our problem. They were recommended by my own architect and I’m so glad to know them.

We dealt with Architectural Window Supply, Inc. early in 2020 when we bought our current house to replace the front entry double door. Tom Davey was great to work with and gave us multiple options after meeting in the show room to break down the prices of the purchase. We ended up going with a Weather Shield aluminum clad pine door that I finished. The door is awesome and we used the contractor that Tom referred us to. We used Tom again in late 2021 when we decided to replace the vinyl sliding patio door and enlarge the opening. We went with a Weather Shield Contemporary Collection Next Gen sliding patio door and again the experience was flawless with Tom.

We had a great experience with Tom Davey at AWS. We very much wanted a contemporary window product and he worked with us over weeks to quote and revise various options to get us the look and price that we wanted. In the end, we chose to go with a more economical product, but that was just budget based. Tom got his numbers down significantly to help us and was a pleasure to work with the entire time.

My wife and I ordered a fiberglass door from Archwin in Annapolis specifically because we needed a nice door in a hurry. Valerie assured us that the door we selected was a "quick ship" item and we'd have it in a couple weeks. Every updated timeline that was provided was off by weeks. The door ended up taking 6 weeks to arrive due to several problems, which delayed our renovation project and cost us a significant amount in contractor rework time. Archwin often did not return phone calls or provide updates when needed. Archwin refunded a portion of the shipping charges, but this was not adequate to cover the cost we incurred because of their delay.

If you buy from them, be sure you have ample extra time beyond whatever they promise.
