I am a licensed Home Inspector and I recently inspected a home that had replacement windows previously (over 10 years ago) installed by Window World. I was absolutely blown away at the quality of the install. The house was over 100 years old, and every single window I touched operated smoothly, with no apparent air leaks/drafts. I see replacement windows fairly regularly, and hands-down this was the best install I've ever observed.
Had Window Works replace/install windows on 10/25. They did a fantastic installation & clean up. I had them return 2/26 for about minor issues I wanted corrected. The service tech inspected the areas of my concerns & fixed the matter immediately, and now all is functioning as it should. WINDOW WORKS was prompt and respected our home. I am really impressed how fast they schedule our concerns for service as well as their installation was remarkable...Bottom line...left me truly impressed and concerned for their of customers & their product performance.
They don’t give you a contract to review before signing the contract. They charge a $200 fee called site setup and disposal which, in my case, was for services I didn’t receive. Disposal, mats on my floor, city permits. “Because that’s just what everybody does”. The installers were very nice.
The windows look nice and are easy to open and close but I’m not thrilled that the screens do not fit snuggly against the window sill. Every one of my screens has a slight gap under them, definitely enough to where insects could fit through. If you see the attached picture, this is how the screen sits once it’s clicked in to the lowest setting. Some of the aluminum window cappings around the old frames do not look as good as the others. The main worker did a great job on his windows but his nephew was newer and the ones he did, did not look as nice. I heard him come around and tell his nephew to do it a different way and then said “good enough.” There wasn’t any caulking put at the top of the window capping, from what I understand is that there should be caulking placed at the top so rain doesn’t seep down under the aluminum coverings and cause rotting. There were also some seams on the insides of the windows that did not get caulked from the quarter round they installed. For some reason they caulked holes that were on the trim boards around the windows (from previous owners screwing blinds into the trim boards). So now those holes have caulk in them rather than wood filler or something that is more appropriate but I am not sure why they even did that. We also had to tell them to go back and look at a window that we knew was rotted for them to replace the frame. It was so rotted that you could pull pieces of it out, it was crumbling just by touching it, it was bad but he put the window in anyway. When I asked if he replaced that frame, he said no and I said it needs replaced because it is completely rotted so when he went back to look at it, he agreed but had I not said something, it would have just gotten covered up and left rotting. He did apologize but that still didn’t make me feel very confident in whether all the other windows were ok.
Window World was the most reasonably priced bid. They brought in two crews to finish within 4 - 5 hours and cleaned up after themselves while being very respectful of our home. We couldn't get over how much the windows quieted the outside noise and wind (it is very windy where we live). We highly recommend Window World of Bloomington.
