Sent incorrect windows and refuse to take responsibility. Instead, they insist we install them using improper techniques and questionable flashing which will inevitably cause damage to the home. The windows sent are insert windows meant for an existing frame, we requested new construction windows. Our windows do not match those on the website and flashing them properly will prevent function of one window's weep hole system entirely. The other has almost no usable space to lap flashing unlike those presented in literature and the website. The windows also arrived with crooked hardware and a screen that was torn as icing on the cake. The discrepancies in geometry were hidden by shipping/storage packaging and only noticed once the old windows were removed and unusable. The distributor got us in touch with a Minnkota rep who denied all responsibility and insisted we install using inferior and potentially damaging methods. The distributor and Minnkota refuse to assist further and since we were forced to install the windows due to winter weather incoming we are out nearly $4000 including install that we will likely never see again.
I will let everyone I know about your customer service and how I am now on week 28 waiting on one window! Winter is coming and you have had 28 weeks to make one window. The glass was broken, its on today's truck, it's built, oh nope, its not built, oh the glass didn't come in. I've been told for weeks now that it will be on next weeks truck. WEEKS!!! 28 weeks for one small basement window. Make this right and make it right, right now! If I could post with a negative star rating I sure would! Oh and hey sales rep, answer your phone!
These windows perform exceptionally well. My mother had Andersen replace 4 or 5 windows for over 40K. They can feel the cold air coming inside, very drafty builders grade vinyl windows. We went with a local glass company and bought Minnkota vinyl windows. These windows are built to last. Zero draft from the outside, superior in structure, and we noticed a noise reduction. Highly recommend!
Do not buy Minnkota windows. We purchased a 3-year-old home that had Minnkota windows throughout the home. This summer/fall (2024) we had the screws that hold the crank arm to the window come loose. We open and close these windows very infrequently and we do not have children in the home. The previous owner also did not have children so these windows have not been abused. The arm separated from the outside window as I was cranking the window closed. You can see from the image that there are three rather short screws that are screwed directly into the vinyl with no anchors. I went to the Minnkota website and saw “Guaranteed for Life” prominently displayed on their website and felt relieved that his would be an easy fix. That was not the case. Despite their claim that they are “Guaranteed for Life” it is only the case if a second owner fills out paperwork to transfer the warranty and pay a fee within a short period of time following the purchase of the home. It seems like there should be an asterisk* next to their "Guaranteed for Life" tagline. This gives a lot of confidence in how strongly they feel about their product, huh? Within a few weeks of the first window fail, we had a second crank break from the window. This time a plastic piece (yes, plastic!) broke and you can see from the image that these do not appear to be built to last. Since then, my wife and I open our windows like you would a jack in the box wondering when and if the next window will arm will break away from the window.Prior to this home we lived in a “starter” home with cheap windows and had zero issues in the 20+ years we lived there. We have friends and family who have had Andersen windows both as a new build and as secondary owners and had no troubles getting warranty work if they needed.I made multiple attempts to reach out to Minnkota. One person said that warranty work would be no problem in the future and said she would contact me with more info. Several weeks later and several attempts to follow-up I have heard nothing. We are considering building a lake home or cabin within the next couple years and there is no chance we will be purchasing Minnkota Windows for it. Save yourself a headache and choose a manufacturer that doesn’t just have a nice tagline but one that actually stands behind their products!
Not impressed with their customer service. We had a door installed 2 years ago a french door and have had issues with it leaking since the start. We had our home builder redo a couple things, had Minnkota out to adjust the door nothing has worked. We have had water pooling in our house with a perfect west wind with rain and I have photos and videos all the way back to 2 months after door was installed, also in winter the lock knob turns to ice and I get ice all around door on inside, have to put a door draft thing along bottom of door to keep the cold out. FINALLY 2 years later of this dragging on with reps and what not, they are not doing anything about our door just told us to get a new one 100% our responsibility. Tell you one thing it won't be a Minnkota door as they clearly do not stand behind their product! We were even going to be satisfied if they covered 50% of a new door, even though I think it should be 100%, but nope nothing!
