Great Windows, Very Poor Warranty Follow-Through

We had this Atlanta-area window and door company replace all the windows in our home, and the installation itself went smoothly. The windows look great, perform well, and we were genuinely happy with the product and the initial experience.

Unfortunately, the warranty service has been a completely different story.

We’ve had to warranty several windows over time, and every single time it turns into a full-time job just trying to get updates or follow-up. This most recent warranty request has taken six months, and it still wouldn’t be moving forward if I wasn’t constantly calling and pushing. Every call comes with a new excuse, and almost without exception, the representative never follows up as promised. In six months, I’ve received one proactive update.

It’s really a shame, because the windows themselves are good—but if a company doesn’t stand behind its product, that matters. Having to set reminders on my calendar just to chase down a warranty request is ridiculous.

I would have gladly given 5 stars based on the product and initial installation alone, but the warranty process has been consistently disappointing. I hope they improve this part of their business, because right now it’s the weakest link by far.

I have used Atlanta Area Window & Door 2 times for front door installation at two different property locations. The first time, I'd give them a 5 star. But the second time, I'm giving them a 3 star.

I don't have much to say about the first experience since I thought that they did a great job that I hired them for the second job. However, the second job was riddled with issues and heartache.

I shopped for quotes from different companies and I awarded the job to Mark and his team. The reason I award the job to Mark is not due to the price but due to the thoughtful and experienced comments he made and when he addressed my questions. I thought that this guy was someone who care and was not in the job just for the money. However, Mark is not the one that actually does the door install. He had a different team install the door and that would be fine as long as there were no issues with the door install. But there were issues. The installation team are great people - someone you could grab a beer with and chat. But they lacked the problem solving and attitude of someone who owned their own business.

Issue #1: After the door was installed, the door did not close well. I had to push extra hard to get the door to shut. I asked the installer if there is something he can do to fix that. He did what he can on installation day (took an entire day to install and they worked past 5pm) and had to come back on a different day. On the second day, they made some changes to the door sweep. This made the door close better. However, this created an issue with a gap between the bottom of the door and the floor. While walking outside at night, I saw streams of light shining from under the front door. This allowed insects to enter my house. I brought this to Mark's attention and asked him not to send the same crew to fix the issue because the installation guy had already told me that he did everything he can. Mark was able to ask another guy to come and fix the issue. The new guy showed up and fixed the issue within 30 mins or less. This guy owned his own door installation business and does the door install himself. During the whole ordeal, Mark showed up on day one to supervise and ensure everything was on track but he did not attempt to remedy the work himself.

Issue #2: I paid the original door installers $xx (i forgot the amount) in cash to install a nest doorbell. The doorbell was installed but did not work because a transformer was required and they do not install transformers. I had to pay a separate guy to install the transformer. In hindsight, I would should have paid a separate guy to install doorbell who can also install a transformer if needed. This was probably my fault but I felt like I paid for something that didn't solve my problem.

Issue #3: 1-2 months after the door was installed, i noticed that pads at the foot of the door had ripped. I asked Mark to fix and his response was that he would send some pads in the mail for me to fix myself. It's been a month and I haven't seen any pads in my mailbox.

I paid almost $6K for doorframe and door (which i still have to paint myself). For this amount of money I was expecting a better streamlined, worry-free experience.

I used Atlanta Area Window & Door to replace a french door in my living area and wanted something modern. They delivered! I am thrilled with my new doors, and the installation. Communication was great the entire process and I can't thank the team enough for a job well done.

and how easy the entire install process was, the sales process was fanatic too - Walt is the best!

I've dealt with a lot of contractors etc in this renovation, and Pablo and
his team were just a breath of fresh air - professional, courteous and truly
took pride in their work.

All too often now a days people seem to only reach out when there are issues
and or challenges - just wanted to make sure you all knew what a great team
you all sent out.

Walt, Mark and his crew did an amazing job on our windows. They gave us a fair quote, set us up with an installation date not too far out, and on the day of installation, were quick and careful. We were the first in the condo to replace our windows & have already gotten positive inquires into who did the work. I’d recommend them to anyone who’s searching for windows or doors.
