When I first contacted Derek, I left a message for a callback, and he called me in a timely manner. I had a set of brick and cement stairs that needed attention. (picture included) I decided I wanted brick and granite stairs - a complete rebuild. He sent me pictures of his work. When he gives you a date and time, he follows through. I recently purchased a home in Dartmouth that was built in 1941, with a fieldstone foundation. There are some cracks in the foundation and I was advised that it should be repointed. This gave me immediate heartburn because I figured this was going to be yet another major expense that comes with owning an old house.

I reached out to Arch Masonry because they are local and have excellent reviews. Derek stopped by and I immediately got a good impression, just by his personality. He took his time to look over the foundation, advised me that he saw nothing concerning and that my foundation was actually in good condition. He explained that the cracks were minor and that I could easily do the repairs myself. He told me the specific products to use and educated me on the process.

Any other mason could've taken advantage of my situation and quoted me a hefty price. But Derek is clearly a solid, straight up guy and treated me right. Which isn't so surprising because Derek is a U.S. veteran and almost all the veterans I know are solid people.
