When I called to get a quote for adding some brick on the outside of my home for a remodel, the woman I talked to said someone would contact me about a bid. However she would not take any of my info & told me to email it to her. Then after emailing her my contact info etc, she responded by email asking me to describe a summary of the work I wanted done? I emailed her a detailed summary along with pics of my house & renderings of where I wanted brick added. Then about a week later I got a call from someone named Kaden (I think) who told me he would give me a bid, but sounded busy. Rather than scheduling a time to look at the job, he asked if I could take measurements of where I wanted brick added. I said I would be happy to do so in order to get a bid sooner rather than later. Then over the next few days I made careful measurements, which took me about an hour & a half in very cold, snowy weather. I then texted him the square footages of how much new brick I wanted installed on each side of my house along with multiple pics & architectural renderings (total square footage was about 558). I also texted him that I had workers who would demo the existing stucco & that I would even have angle irons installed so all that would have to do is install the new brick. He responded to these texts immediately by saying "Awesome." & that he would get back to me in a bit. Then, a few days later he responded by text saying he "did not think he had the capacity to fit in [my] job at this time," making it clear that he was not even going to give me a bid. I texted back immediately that I did not expect him to do the job "at this time" because it was the middle of winter & I thought outdoor masonry was weather dependent. I made it clear that I was totally flexible on the timeline & asked if at any point in the future he would have the capacity? He did not even respond to this question. That was the last time I heard from him or anyone from Basin Masonry.I have never been treated more unprofessionalism by a company (this is the 1st negative review I have ever given). I spent a lot of time & jumped through several hoops to get a bid, & then they did not even bother to give me a bid or let me know when the job could be done in the future? Despite even knowing what the job entailed before making me jump through MORE hoops because they had already made me describe the job in writing via email, which I did in detail along with photos & architectural renderings. This company clearly does not care about serving the public or taking care of potential clients. I do not believe this treatment had anything to do with capacity. My schedule was totally flexible, which I made clear, & the job was not very big (558 Sq Ft). I believe the reason Kaden did not give me a bid is because my job did not fit into what the company is/was looking for in terms of profitability, which is what I believe they do care about.
The top of my brick chimney was in poor condition from water seepage in the winter. After contacting several masonry companies, I found Basin Masonry’s bid to be competitive, and their approach matched other bids. The project began about a month after initial point of contact, and the work was completed in two days. Justin took great care in matching the new bricks with my house, making the rebuilt portion of the chimney look original but new. Very happy with the work. Time will tell how it holds up, but so far I'm pleased with the results.
