? 1-Star ReviewBUYERS BE AWAREI recently had a very disappointing experience at this store that I feel other customers should be aware of. I placed an order to purchase the exact same model, type, and color of Versa lok blocks that I had previously purchased. I went in person, spoke with the front desk staff, and they looked up my order history to ensure it was the same. I paid for it, and my contractor picked up the pallet on my behalf using his truck.Unfortunately, the product I received was completely the wrong color, not matching my existing wall at all. I called the store immediately and explained the issue to both Andy and Sam. I told them their staff must have mistakenly handed over the wrong pallet.Rather than acknowledging the mistake or offering a solution, I was told it’s my responsibility as the customer to verify the pallet—even though I placed the order in-store based on their records, and their team fulfilled and loaded the order. How is a customer supposed to verify something they didn’t even see being loaded or isn’t it order fulfillment issues? Now I’m left with blocks I cannot use. My contractor has already completed his other work and cannot return, so I’m stuck. I don’t have a truck. I have a medical condition (lower back pain) and cannot lift or move the blocks myself. Despite explaining all of this, they still insisted that I return the incorrect pallet, with no offer of assistance. Sam was especially rude, dismissive, and eventually hung up on me.Because of their error, I’ve lost time, had to cancel scheduled work, and now may have to spend even more money renting a truck and hiring help just to fix a mistake they made. This is unacceptable customer service. Mistakes happen, but refusing to acknowledge or correct them and pushing the burden onto the customer—especially in this situation—is both unfair and unprofessional. If you’re buying materials from here, be very careful. Double-check everything—even if it’s their mistake—because once the product leaves their lot, they wash their hands of all responsibility.Update—Sam requested to send the pictures. Sent a formal complaint. The review will be updated based on the outcome.
In Spring of 2020 during the lockdown, Ken helped me out a lot via e-mail with a retaining wall project. I was doing it myself and Ken helped to tell me what I need for the project. Service was great, delivery was prompt, and the blocks still look fantastic one year later. Thank you Ken!!
Overall a good experience. I'm a builder with a high level of expectations in quality, especially in this case as it was going inside a home. After ordering breeze block from another supplier and being disappointed with the rough quality of it I found Dag Block and Ken sent photos of their block up close to see the quality before ordering (I'm located in Michigan). Ken also offered and additional service to grind down the faces of the block after hearing about the quality I was looking for. He sent photos of that option as well and I decided on going with it. I would recommend ordering 10-20% more than needed as some edges were still chipped beyond useful. We polished the exposed ends to match the faces without too much trouble. Here are some photos of the results:
Working with Dagostino Block was one of the few experiences that helped reduce our stress during our home building process. We had an exhaustive search trying to find Breeze Block (Screen Block) to use when building our home in North Carolina, calling countless companies all over Florida, Georgia, and the Southeast resulting in extreme pricing, refusal to ship out of state, and just generally rude conversations. Dagostino Block was completely different. The second I mentioned breeze block, Ken was ready to help us find exactly what we were looking for. In terms of breeze block, Dagaotino had an excellent selection of shapes and sizes and not only had my wife’s number one choice but also had a few ones we hadn’t seen before that made us think a little. I know not everyone will be shopping for Breeze Block, though and I can say that the customer service, ease of contact, and pricing also blew us away. Ken helped walk me through exactly what I should order and was able to set up delivery from New York to North Carolina at a very reasonable rate. While our block was being made, I was sent text updates regularly so I knew exactly when it would arrive allowing me to schedule install with confidence. During the shipping process we had issues with the freight company and Ken worked the phones for an entire afternoon and following morning making sure the block would arrive in time for us - going above and beyond to help us. Overall the service I received was excellent and I would recommend for anyone looking for Breeze Block to contact Dagostino Block ASAP. I have called nearly every company recommended by different websites and Dagostino far and away beat the other companies on selection, price, and ease of purchase, and I have personally recommended them to each and every person who walks by and comments on how beautiful the block is.
