My carpet was installed in 2 parts and every step was a baffling mess. The sales persons attitude was unprofessional throughout the whole process. My place was measured twice by 2 different people. Both times ended up being wrong measurements(I caught the first one and sent over a floor plan for them to see the floor measurements). When the scheduled time for the first half of carpet came around the installer forgot that we had an appointment and didn't show. I was offered a small discount on half of my padding($68 off a $5800 order) and even that managed to get messed up and took 45 minutes on the phone to clear up(they tried to over charge the quoted total price even with discount applied). The second half of the carpet was put in and thats when it was discovered the second measurement they took was also wrong. A second batch of carpet needed to be ordered. Was offered a second discount by a staffer after the whole job was completed but when I followed up to see what that second discount would be I was told "We already gave you a discount and what do you want me to do about it?"
Scott at Merkel Carpet helped me find a beautiful carpet in time for out-of-town company for the Holidays. Scott was very knowledgeable about carpet selections, the ordering and delivery process. The delivery and setup was on time and efficient. I will definitely return to Merkel for all my flooring and carpet purchases.The company, sales team, and delivery personnel are top notch!
We have returned to Merkel Carpet One in Ann Arbor four times for our carpet and flooring needs. Each time we have been impressed with the help we received from the staff regarding the large selection of products available, the knowledge they shared to help us make an informed decision, the ordering and scheduling of installation and the careful installation team. We are highly satisfied customers and will return to Merkel Carpet One the next time the need arises for new flooring or carpet.
My wife and I really like Merkel Carpet.. always have great service (Rita) and the installers were fabulous. Very detailed and professional. Just went back for the second half of our house because they did such a great job on the first half. We got a very good deal on high end carpets and are very pleased with their selection.
The customer service at Merkel Furniture is amazing. I worked directly with George Merkel to secure a donation of carpet remnants for the non-profit, Detroit Black Community Food Security Network. Not only did George agree to the (sizable) donation quickly, but he delivered it to the non-profit himself! Throughout this experience, George was incredibly friendly, flexible, and easy to reach. It is rare to find a store with such kind, helpful staff and a strong community spirit.I will definitely be going here in the future for all of my personal carpet and furniture needs.
