Good guy to work with. Reliable and did a nice job on our hardwood refinish.
Sadly, we had Sand King do our flooring in 2021. I’m not even sure where to begin with all the things that went wrong. First I’ll start by saying that they told us our move-in date, and then after we moved everything into our new home, where they were re-doing the floors, they then told us that we moved in too quickly. Leading us to need to go back to our rental for another week. They blew out a power outlet to the point where it was a fire hazard, and weren’t going to tell us or fix it. They splashed staining all over our walls and trim and weren’t going to fix it. When we did ask them to fix it, two of their guys attempted to paint the trim but painted it the wall color, which was obviously much different than the white trim. This led me to have to fix it and because they carelessly splashed staining on the walls in most of the house, took considerable time to have to re-paint about 2000+ Sq ft of the home. Then someone sanded the flooring wrong on the upstairs, and when we asked for that to be fixed, they took a razor blade to it leaving obvious scrapes in the flooring. We then asked them to fix that and after over a month of pushing them, finally got Deke back out to finish the job. As if all that wasn’t enough, our flooring started developing discolored staining (see pics) within a month and has gotten progressively worse. We’ve reached out to Deke personally (the owner) asking for him to fix it, and he won’t respond. For around $20k in work, we are disgusted at the quality of our flooring and the fact that they won’t fix it. We’ve since had multiple flooring specialists tell us that our floors look like this because they rushed and didn’t give the stain long enough to set. I can’t urge you enough to never use this company.
Deke and his crew did an excellent job on our floors. They were fast and professional when we were in a time crunch and the finished product looks great. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needed floor work.
Deke and crew did a great job refinishing my floors downstairs and installing new hardwood upstairs.
We had the unfortunate experience of having Sand King work on our floors. Our general contractor used them as a sub and we wish we had requested someone else. The project was straightforward--refinishing some existing wood floors and installing/finishing a new floor. But it took weeks and in the end we have a mediocre job with a good chunk of the work left for me to correct. The floors have multiple "wavy" sections where the sanding was uneven. They ripped out the old shoe molding and took 3 weeks to come install the new stuff (while we waited to move the furniture back). They ruined an old transition between 2 rooms and seemed perplexed by how to install a new one. When they did finally come (2 months later), their solution was to nail down a 1 inch thick board with slightly rounded corners! We had 3 people trip on it in the first day. I had to plane it down by 2/3 and add a much more gradual taper (plus sand and stain).Needless to say, we would recommend against anyone using this company. The only reason for a 2nd star is that a couple of their employees truly did seem to care about the quality of their work and did a good job. Unfortunately this did not carry over to everyone else that was involved with the project.
