Flooring updates were a critical part of a recent renovation project at pur condo. Can't recommend May River enough! From our first call to Robbie and his prompt trip out to measure and quote through the install on 2-floors by Matt we were extremely happy with the results. Even with some subfloor challenges, they jumped right on them. They timed around my kitchen renovation and were professional, skilled and prompt. We love our new floors and the improvement it made and appreciate May River for their part in that!

We hired May River Flooring to sand and refinish our hardwood floors and initially appreciated their professionalism during the quoting process. They were very detailed in outlining the work, and unlike other contractors, they included removal and replacement of all 1/4 round from the base trim as well as furniture removal and replacement. While the project took longer than expected, they did offer a small discount of approximately 5% from the quoted cost.

However, after living with the refinished floors for over two months, several significant issues have come to light:

Poor Sanding Quality: There are noticeable areas with wavy and bumpy surfaces, particularly where the floors meet sliding doors or transition into other rooms. These imperfections suggest the sanding process was not performed evenly.

Uneven Finish Application: The finish appears uneven in several areas, with varying sheen and inconsistent depth of color. Additionally, much of the wood grain remains open, which indicates that another coat of finish may have been necessary.

Lack of Durability: The Bona water-based finish that was applied was marketed as a durable, high-traffic sealer, but this has not been our experience. After just two months, we are seeing noticeable wear around areas like the counter chairs and dining chairs, even though we use felt cushions on all chairs to prevent scratching. The previous finish, while dull and scratched, never showed this level of wear. For reference, it’s just my wife and me living in the house—no pets, and we don’t wear shoes indoors.

I have attempted to reach out to May River Flooring to discuss these concerns but have not received any response. Unfortunately, we now plan to consult another contractor to assess the floors and determine what corrective actions are needed.

While May River Flooring was pleasant to work with during the initial phase, the quality of the refinishing work and lack of follow-up leave me unable to recommend their services for hardwood floor refinishing.

We chose May River Flooring to replace carpet in 2 bedrooms and closets. The selection of options was excellent, the explanation of differences was easy to understand. We were able to get the carpets installed in a narrow time window that we needed. Allie and the team were great to work with.
The installers did a great job and the carpet looks fabulous.
Highly recommend this company for very personalized service before and after the sale.

I was very pleased with my bathroom remodeling project done by MRFC. The workmanship was very good and professionally done. They were courteous, easy to work with and very responsive to changes and follow-up work. I received price quotes from several contractors and found theirs to be very reasonable. After completing one remodeling project and evaluating my satisfaction, I chose them to do the second one. I would use them again and highly recommend them to others.

We recently bought a well loved home with a variety of colors. The solid walnut floors were sun kissed where carpets laid and deep paw prints where the dogs happily danced for treats or excitement. Fastford to new owners and its time to restore the floors to their original glory and neutralize the carpets and walls. May River Flooring came in and did an fantastic job! COuld not ask for a better choice of carpet. Kenny sent us to a store near our home 250 miles away we were able to see the exact color and thickness. We had hesitated to choose a carpet and hire installers not knowing what we would get. The installers were amazing, wearing foot coverings , clean cut shaven, polite, neatly dressed, exceptionally professional. We have rentals and this is by far the best experience we have had with getting carpet installed. We trusted them to do our hardwood without us being there! We we say it we cried it was sooo over the top amazing! Beautiful color, consistent, smooth finish. Before it was done you could feel the seam of each board, and there were too many grooves for us to ever believe they could be restored. But its a show piece now!!!!! Trust them with all of your flooring needs! super glad my well loved home reflects us but keeps the memories of the awesome owners before us!
