Esteban and his team at SSJ flooring put down our vinyl plank floor in 2023 -beautiful job. We were very happy. Nice finish, easy to keep, looked really good. In 2025 we had a major flood. 6 inches of water everywhere. The maintenance team at the apartment building are still talking about the floor. It held the water. They quickly sucked it up . We put down some fans and all is as good as new. Nothing moved, nothing shifted, no mold has appeared. Esteban came right out and looked it all over. He gave us advice as to how to proceed with the cleanup. He tested the moisture levels for us. We highly recommend the product, the installation and the after care.
SSJ has refurbished the floors on two of our houses and they are fantastic. Flexible, communicative, helpful....and best of all, they do a great job! Would work with them again.
I hired SSJ to refinish my hardwood floors in my condo that were previously carpeted over since the 80s. Esteban explained what I could expect from the final outcome and walked me through the work they would do. We had an actual conversation, not him throwing me a sales pitch.The team did an amazing job. The floors look new. He took his time to instruct me on future care and did a detailed walkthrough after the job was done. He's done work for my family previously and they have also had great experiences.I highly recommend SSJ.
Esteban is a consummate professional. He's also very considerate and communicative. He gave me a tour today of the floors that he and his crew refinished in a 2-bedroom condo I just purchased in Jersey City, and the results are impressive and make me really happy.I see a couple of recent reviews on here that are not favorable to Esteban, and I'd like to say that it seems to me like all of the other reviewers--in other words, the vast majority of positive, glowing reviews--are more likely to represent for you what it's like to work with Esteban. Based on my experience with him on this July 2019 job, those bad reviews simply seem out of character for him and may say more about the character of the negative reviewers.All that being said, all I can really do is speak of my experience with Esteban. When I first met him, he struck me as friendly and very knowledgeable about both refinishing and replacing floors. He consulted with me about both kinds of project, and quoted both. I decided on sanding and refinishing, and I'm very glad I did.For a fair price, the finished product is much more appealing than the prior floor. The quality of the workmanship is very good. And the color/hue of the wood as well as the coatings are what I expected. Throughout the process of getting to this finished product, Esteban has been very enjoyable to work with, and left the apartment clean and in very good shape. He and his crew even went the extra mile and hauled off some metal baseboard heater covers that we no longer wanted.Engaging a contractor can be a miserable experience. Esteban is a kind, professional, dependable exception to that rule. I highly recommend him to you.
I hired SSJ team to do my flooring work for my apartment in waterfront Jersey City. The scope of the work was to replace the entire hardwood flooring to brand new, and I have a tight schedule as I have to move in, as well as I have to coordinate with painters to paint walls. I was hoping to find a flooring company that can manage the project and deliver the project on time. It was such a great experience working with Esteban and SSJ team. After shopping around hardwood floors, we decided to go with Villa Blanca (VB), which I believe SSJ is the only one or at least one of the few official retailers for this collection in New York area. Not only the floors they carry are beautiful and diverse, but also the more important thing is SSJ team's commitment for getting the work done professionally. From day 1 of the work my impression was that everything was transparent and well managed. Esteban walked me through the entire process on day 1, and after that I got daily report from Esteban on progress, issues (if any) and proposals to resolve issues. I can see that SSJ team is high efficiently running, I don't need to do any micro-management, because they know what they are doing, and project manager Esteban made the process went very very smoothly. The last day of my project, they helped move my furnitures back in place, and they did a detailed cleaning for my apartment. With new floors, with detailed cleaning, my apartment looks brand new again! I'm very happy about the result and I would recommend SSJ to my friends. THANK YOU SSJ TEAM.
