Overall ratings trend very positive with consistent notes on communication and follow-through.
Mid South Flooring did a beautiful job on my cypress flooring! 2 others in my family have used them so they came highly recommended. They carefully covered vents and TVs and my fireplace to minimize dust. Nice crew who came on time and finished as promised! Highly recommend this team!
We hired this company to refinish the hardwood floors in our 2005-built home—not a 1920s antique with mysterious character and 100 years of wear, just a dated, yellow-toned red oak solid hardwood floor that was in normal, lived-in condition before they touched it.The sanding was wildly inconsistent. The entire floor now has random divots, shallow craters, and wavy, roller-coaster-like dips that you can both see and feel underfoot in several areas. Visible roller marks streak across large sections.A dark water spot in the kitchen (pre-existing evidence of a minor leak from years ago) was supposedly “repaired.” In reality, they just sanded around it and then locked the black mark under the new polyurethane.White caulk splatters somehow got flicked onto the floor and were sealed under the final top coats. We called the owner to come evaluate the work in person. He showed up promptly but was clearly not thrilled. He looked at the divots, roller marks, trapped caulk spots, and black water mark, admitted that “some human error may have occurred” on several of those points, and agreed to fix some of them (specifically the water damage mark and the caulk splatters). However, the overall uneven, wavy, divot-riddled surface? Zero accountability. His explanation: the floor “probably has some issues” and—my personal favorite—“wood is a natural material and isn’t perfect.” His actual advice for living with the disaster they created? “Just wait until you close the blinds, move the furniture back in, throw some rugs down… you won’t even notice it.”For more than $6,000 and weeks of disruption, the professional solution was strategic furniture placement and low lighting to camouflage a floor that now looks terrible.Later, when the crew returned to fix some of the issues, we discovered that the half bathroom a section was missing the final coat. I pointed this out to the crew, and they acknowledged that—for some reason—they had completely missed that area.Sadly I would not recommend this company based on my experience .Update:I have read Mr. Danny's account of working at our house. However, some parts of his explanation do not fully align with our actual experience.- We've been living in this house for several months now, and about 60% of it remains empty since we moved from a much smaller home with limited furniture. The floors were never heavily covered by rugs or furniture during our time here, so any underlying issues (like looseness or prior water damage effects) should have been noticeable during the initial estimate and walkthrough.- During Mr. Danny's first visit, I specifically raised concerns about the area that appeared to have prior water damage. He was very optimistic and assured me that the standard refinishing process (sanding, staining, etc.) would take care of it without any problems. At no point before or during the job were we warned that the floors had significant underlying issues, that replacing might be necessary for a perfect result, or that unevenness could appear. If we had been warned in advance about the potential problems, we certainly would have saved the money we ended up spending to redo the floor properly later.
We just returned from a 3 week trip to Europe and, boy, are we glad to be home. While we were gone, Danny Benard and his crew at Mid-South Flooring came in and replaced all the hardwood flooring in our living, dining, foyer and master bedrooms. Wow, did they do a fantastic job. They moved the furniture and rugs and replaced them perfectly, replaced all of the shoe molding and installed the new wide-planked hardwood throughout. We couldn't be happier with the new look and are extremely pleased with the way Danny and Luke handled the process from start to finish.
Exceptional, start to finish. Refinished my single family home’s 1400sf floor over about 6 days while on vacation, came home thrilled.Chose them as most reasonable and fair estimate I received, plus great reviews. Great communication throughout. They were so helpful and flexible, came to my house and did a sample before I left. Repaired a few water damage spots and worn wood in high traffic areas, perfect match. Sanded out all of the pet scratches from the floor. Great color, smooth and even finish to show the wood character. Even the 1/4 round finish on the floor was complete with excellent attention to detail. 10/10 recommend.
Before Mid South Flooring came in we had very ugly red oak wood floors (first picture) original to the house. It had major water damage with shrunken, misshapen planks. We had staining damage. We had sun damage. The floors were sanded wrong to start (across the grain) making waves through the whole floor and the corners weren't sanded at all leaving years of grime that was finished into the floor. THEN a contractor gouged them with some heavy furniture and "repaired" them in a way that made things worse.Danny's team at Mid South Flooring came in and made them look better than we could have ever expected (second picture). They are beautiful now. They did an excellent job of managing the dust, closing off any area that wasn't being sanded. Even the rooms that were sanded got minimal dust because of their dust management system. They did an amazing job. Easy to work with. Good communicators. Can't recommend enough.
