[This was our uniquely bad experience; not suggesting that your OHD experience will be similar.]We wanted to convert our old manual alley gate to solar swing gate. Seemed fairly simple however , what amounted to a three week process our end result with OHD was disappointing, infuriating, a waste of time, and on a personal level, well, it hurts to be lied to.At my request for the gate job, Company owner said for me to send photographs, as opposed to stopping by for an on site discussion of options and costs to be incurred. A reasonable offer ($3000.oo) was accepted, parts came three weeks later. On date of service (February 2026) an empathetic technician explained to me that unlike my assumptions, gate would be 90 degrees blocking the ally and obviously not going to work for our unique setting.OHD Owner was called by Tech and he came to site, apologized for misunderstanding, offered a sliding gate for same price, installation following day. Got word next morning new parts collected and all set. The following morning Job Site personnel confirmed on the way…prior to their arrival however, OHD Owner called me to say unapologetically that despite anything he and Staff had clearly told me, proposed and priced sliding gate would NOW be an additional $1200.oo…Total for one swing out gate would now be $4,200.00.Job canceled by me immediately. Refund for downpayment of $1600.00 posted two weeks later.Though OHD was highly recommended to me by the owner of Sunny Fence Company who actually visited us to see what we needed, I can not recommend OHD.
If there is an issue with a garage door, then the company to call is Overhead Door. I was lucky enough to get a knowledgeable technicians who shared their knowledge with me and they were able to get both our small door and our large door functioning again. They arrived within the expected time window and provided excellent service. It wasn't cheap, but I feel they were very reasonable for the parts and service that was and will be provided. Call Overhead Door Company for any and all garage door issues.
Generally a good experience. I've had two doors put in my Overhead of ABQ and they both work. The last door arrived with a broken wall controller, and they haven't fixed it yet - it's been two weeks. I'm waiting on them to replace the controller. And they hadn't registered the opener with Chamberlain. The new opener wasn't in their system.Update: After posting this review, Overhead Door replied and was out the next day and replaced the broken wall controller and adjusted the door. That's customer service! Thank you. I'd recommend them as they've done quality work for both my garage doors.
Jake S was awesome! He came out within a few hours of my call on a Saturday, and was professional, calm, collected, and super knowledgeable. Charges were reasonable, and Overhead Door Company of ABQ should give Jake a raise (I’d pay more for it) because he was nothing short of fantastic. Jake repaired my twisted, mangled cable in a jiffy, and installed little springs to prevent future twisting. He checked my other garage door to make sure it wouldn’t have the same issue, and patiently answered my many questions. Hire Overhead Door Company of ABQ and be sure to ask for Jake!
The tech that showed up was friendly, skilled, and quickly got down to business. Removed all the bent and broken pieces of my garage door and replaced everything but the motor drive unit. He was done within 5 minutes of the time he said he would be done. He inspected everything as he moved the door up and down unpowered. I’m impressed and completely satisfied with the work done and would definitely recommend Overhead Door to anyone that needs door repair or replacement.The pricing was in the middle of the 5 estimates I received and I received a military discount.????+
