I had a great experience with A1 Garage today. Jack Zellner was my technician, and he was fantastic. He explained exactly what was wrong, gave me some options to choose, and had everything back in working order in no time. If you need garage repair, ask for Jack!
Everything was great! I know that's not much help in itself but starting with scheduling all the way through when he left. At first they did the thing we all hate which is to give me a "range" of time to expect the tech. But then I recieved a text with a bio, a photo and a few personalized details of who would be coming. Very helpful especially since I drive part time for Uber and I always get comments from woman and older customers that they like to see who will actually be showing up because I hear horror stories of strangers showing up other than who was shown in the photo, in a different vehicle than what was listed and who can't even communicate in English. I could see how that would be creepy if I was elderly or a female. So good on A1 for putting clients at ease. You definitely know how to build repeat business through personal connections. By the time my tech left, I got a fully functional garage door and he got a dozen farm fresh eggs from our chickens. I felt like I made a new friend!!
My appointment on Saturday with Aaron, first off. He tries to sale products and I get that. But the length of time it took to finely get a quote to repair the garage door took too long. Aaron tries to be nice and engage but too much chit chat and not enough time to get the job done. Even though the price for the replacement genie door opener was higher with installation I was desperate to get my door repaired. Aaron started off with the comments, haven't done a genie in awhile, hoping it gets done correctly. I didn't have confidence in his work with that response. As Aaron started to get the installation underway I saw he was struggling...that's the best description of how it started. Aaron was unsure of the placement and handling the opener. I assisted him in holding the opener and placement on my house rafters. Aaron was struggling to center and level the opener. And I drew out a picture of centering on the rafters and measuring the length needed to install correct. Aaron seemed to not understand basic skills to even understand this. I watched Aaron struggling with the opener placement and saw the uneven, ill centered opener and did not want that type of work on my home for the price that was quoted. The comment that Aaron said was, I eye ball it, meaning no precise measurements no leveling no center placement on installation. From that moment I made the decision to cancell the installation. My idea of paying for professional skilled technicians for the price that your company offers is not my standard of good business practice. At that moment Aaron made calls to his company. Removed the opener stored in my garage. Arrangements were made with a seasoned technician to complete the order. I was contemplating canceling the order. But I have no garage door opener. I have no security in my home. I have lived and not slept in my home under stress due to this issue. My home is open to anyone that can open my garage door manually. I have stressed over this for 4 days, with no sleep and worry for my security with an open entrance to my home. I will expect at the minimum a discount on this service just for the inconvenience and security risk in place. As Aaron stated, we have an agreement, yes we do. I will want the installation correctly completed and a discount that reflects the stress and inconvenience we have all experienced.
I recently had a garage door opener installed and was disappointed with the experience. The pricing ended up being much higher than expected, and I felt overcharged for the work that was actually done. There was not enough transparency about services upfront, which made the final bill frustrating. In addition, the installation itself did not feel thorough. Certain details were overlooked, such as the door should have been inspected prior to installation. If I would have been told there were issues with door before installation I wouldn’t have went through with it. For a job that costs this much, I expected better attention to detail and quality control. It’s not even recommended that I use the door at all until I get 3 things fixed. While the door technically works, the overall service did not match the price I paid. I would recommend getting multiple quotes and asking very specific questions before choosing this company.
Jack was very professional, kind, and went way out of his way to make my experience positive. I would call A1 garage anytime. I have any problems with my garage door. I recommend them to everyone. It wasn’t just about the money with them. It was about making me happy and doing what was right from my garage door. I was not rushed. He took his time and did it right I was very happy.
